I've had a look at the NHS jobs website and from my search, I got 3 results. I just wanted to confirm which of those I could apply for and what should I do regarding references because I started recently at my sixth form so only know my teachers for two years and they say ''You will be required to provide two satisfactory references covering a minimum of 3 years employment history and/or training.''

Which of these can I apply for? Because one is a 3, one a 2 and the last other.

If there's only 3 places available, it'd be a bit hard to get even one, wouldn't it?
You're seriously awesome! Thanks so much for all this help. As well as these NHS jobs, I'm looking at general volunteering with the elderly and there's this thing called a nuffield bursary which would let me work at a lab for 4-6 weeks in the summer.
Unfortunately, I live in London and I can't drive, so that's not really an option for me

hey just though id ask for your advice cos you seem clued up on all things medical school related! looks like ill be a reapplicant for 2013, wondered if you knew any unis that look favourably/give extra points for achived a2s, im trying to be as tactical as possible! also i read something about peninsula not needing ukcat for reapps, is this true? thanks in advance

Thanks for the reply mate! I'd better hope I nail my upcoming UKCAT then! Medical ethics is a subject I am very comfortable with. Peninsula was amazing on open-day and really does appeal to me in almost every way.
I managed to get a temp HCA job at UHW in December - really excited to be able to provide a service FOR the NHS! Your job sounds pretty damn cool. Have you decided on where you are applying this year? Are you considering plans apart from full-time work for the year out (e.g. travelling or volunteering abroad)?

You seem to know alot about leeds, and im glad they dont really account ukcat! hahah!
which section on the scoring does voluntary work come under do you know? and what kind of EC activities are they looking for?
PS, do you have any entry criteria for newcastle or leicster?

I just read through your post in the medical applicants thread! It must be hard having seen all of the rejections despite all of the work you had put into your EC activities! I was wondering if you are planning to reapply and if so what you had planned for your gap year? Also what sort of feedback did you receive off the universities? (I am planning on applying to Peninsula myself and want to know what qualities they really want haha!).

Oh btw, apparently Sheffield has started this thing where if you missed your Shef offer, you will get an "Unconditional Changed Course" to Biomedical Sciences at Sheffield. Pretty good xD
