For me, equal opportunity means the opportunities are there for low income children to progress in society (which there are), so it is up to them to take initiative. Equal rights are also important, but imagine how dull it would be if everyone were the same? Same wage, living conditions, etc. You need people at the top to encourage those at the bottom to aspire higher. Everyone has the right to be unequal and it is not up to the State to enforce this.

Fine. I realised it was slightly flawed & simplistic, and I should have made it clearer. Also, I want it to be a debate for users without a supporting original post to rely on when putting forward their views, if that makes sense? If it means that much to you I will put forward my arguments at a later stage.

May I ask, what has drawn you towards socialism?

If you're referring to my recent discussion, I have asked a straight forward question for users to interpret it how they wish. My original question was deliberately provocactive though I edited it so people wouldn't interpret it in the wrong way. Whilst I am centre-right, I do not see things completely in black and white terms.

lol! yea the only reason im comfortable with talking to strangers is because the chances of meeting them again are second to none, the chances of them actually remembering me are even less... its cool to be weird though, im a looser and a geek and very strange and im having a right laugh! as soon as people started calling me strange i just stopped giving a crap about what they thought :P

lol! im only socially awkward to people who i know but not really well- like classmates who ignore me. im perfectly fine with having a conversation with a random person on the street :P

lol so true... i mean its not everyday you get talking about periods to some strange dude on the other end of the computer screen, u must be a truly special person...
