  1. Thanks, I am still waiting and I am hoping for the best!
  2. Hi! I just wanted to know how you heard from Edinburgh? Was it through track or euclid?
  3. I've tried to ban myself, but I keep getting lured back into them!

Most wrote about the way Marxism was distorted by it's application in real life though, I haven't heard of anyone writing about the NEP and War Communism. Clearly it was good enough to get you an interview though so I wouldn't worry too much about it
  4. I hope so! I bet they'll throw me some really hard questions though which I won't be able to muddle through. Reading for you own enjoyment is a better indicator of your passion for the subject than doing it just for the interview, you'll be fine and I'm sure they'll be able to tell.

I was pleased with how I did in the HAT, I don't think there is anything I would have done differently. What did you write about in 1 c)? I did the French Revolution, it was a conscious decision not to write about Marxism and Russia, I almost did but i'm glad I didn't as most people seem to have used that topic.
  5. Exactly! It might actually force me to do some exercise :P I'm worried about that too, I'll have to find a decent map of oxford, my sense of direction is dreadful.

I honestly think it's a good thing, I'm a much better Historian than I was a year ago, I'm much better read and more informed and I really think another year of school before applying makes a big difference.

Since we're post A-level applicants I doubt they'll ask us about our schoolwork, they'll expect us to have read much more and done much more thinking and research of our own interests. (i think anyway!)
  6. Neither have I! Which again is good as I'd feel really bad because I would automatically be like 'Grrrr competition!'.

I visited it this summer, I love the gardens and yes accommodation for the whole course is a big draw. Plus since it's further out you don't get the tourists wandering everywhere. Also one of my heroes Aung San Suu Kyi went there

Also, since I'm in fact resitting one of my papers post A level to get A*AA rather than A*AB I kinda shied away from applying to an oversubscribed college.

And yes I am on a Gap Year, you must be too then?
  7. Thought I'd add you since we're both up for St Hugh's with similar subjects but different enough that we aren't competing

Did you apply directly or get re-allocated? I seem to be one of the few that applied there in the first place!
  8. Hey, sorry ive taken so long to reply! i chose loughborough in the end because of the friendly and relaxed feel and i loved the uni. i also thought that i might get a bit sick of the cramped, dusky working spaces in oxford brookes haha. which was your other option?- i forgot.. and have you chosen one yet?
  9. hey i was just having a nose through the thread on fine art at oxford and i saw that you said you had offers from oxford brookes and loughborough- i do too, and i am just really stuck as to which one to choose! i also have an offer from aucb which i am considering. so anyway, i was just wondering which one is your top choice and how are you choosing between them all? thanks in advance
