Cheers!...
I'm hoping to get a few more people to help contribute to thedentalstudent and start expanding it into a more useful resource for dental students.
It would be brilliant if you set up a similar blog, I can tell you have a lot of knowledge to share...If you ever want to write something for thedentalstudent, I'd love for you to contribute...
Looking forward to hopefully seeing you come september!
Thanks again for your donation to the Ghana Project Jon!

Yeah one of the new dental foundation training gives you experience in oral surgery and maxfax so hopefully i'll get onto it, and get an SHO position somewhere. I'll definitely be keeping in touch with my surgeons here in Leeds and getting a head start on all the work experience! Good luck with Kings and thank you for the advice!

Hey there, you're going in for maxfax right? How's your application going? I've been interested in it for ages (i'm a patient myself), but i'm doing the dentistry first route. Can I ask if you've got any research or related experience? As i've been told by some people that you need to have been published and such, but I went to a maxfax talk given by our med schools surgical society and there was no mention of it. I'm just curious about the extra bits and pieces that go alongside everything. Thanks in advance!

Well I can mentor you without needing to live near you. Just focus on your dental studies and get in touch again when you need more advice!

I need to know someone near me like you ... To supply me with all this info ... I need a mentor lol ....!!

Yeah they do .... Such a lonnng way to go .. The foundation years for each degree take about 4 years of ur life also ... Will you have to do 2 years training as a dentist before you go onto getting ur royal college of surgeons qualification? ... When is OMFS obatainable .. What is it? Yes that article was written 5 years ago .. There is now a few places that do the max fax for dentists course in three years ..
-
Thanks ... Was just think about ways in which to save a year or two ... For example, do the 3 year med course instead of the 4 ... No you're wrong .. Barts School of med and Dent Do a three year med course ...!

What is the quickest way to become a max fax surgeon? 5 years Dentistry to begin with ... Then 1 years Vt and then a second year training as dft or something? apply to med and then do that in 3 years right and then whats the training after that? feel free to correct me! ... Wat unis offer the 3 year oral/max med course?

Hello .... I just read your thread and have too many questions about Max Fax surgery!? I am a current Dental student aspiring to be a max fax surgeon one day
-
I couldn't answer any of these. I'm applying for the 3 year course, and the application deadline is still 6 days away so I don't expect to hear from them for several months, and my interview is structured quite differently, being a course purely for doctors wishing to do oral and maxillofacial surgery. I wish you luck all the same - my advice for these interviews is simply to know your personal statement inside out, read a couple of recent journals and practice your general approach to ethics stations, then just be honest and show enthusiasm at interview and you will get in.
