The AB = Aberdeen (IIRC that's the right name), 01 = I think this means a flat that 'goes downstairs' - all the 01s I've seen have. There are no real 1st and 2st floors - there is the ground floor, then some outside stairs and then a corridor, off which are all 01 and 02 flats
You'll be in Aberdeen, Flat 2, Room 12. Ignore the 01 (the ground floor flats say something different) and just go up the stairs you see in Aberdeen and you'l either be practically outside your flat, or you'll be on the wrong end of the building and will have to walk all the way down the corridor (including the little outside part with more stairs).
Oh, and if they have the same keys (they might not) - then it's the small, stumpy, rounded and covered in sort of circles key for the flat door, the biggest for your room door and the smallest and normal looking one for the mail box in Grove House.
-
no, you're in room twelve.
The room numbers are kind of awkward. SO flat1 has people from 1-7 then flat 2 from 8-14 and henceforth.~!

alright thanks dear! i'm seraphina, from singapore. i'll post this on the whitworth park fb page 2011/12 if you don't mind (:

you know what, if you feel all this information is helpful to you, you could make a thread on the university forum, putting in all the information ive given you, so other people actually benefit from it too! that would be very lovely of you
Im sonja btw, now going into the second year. I made good friend during my first year and got a house with them very close to WP. I study in the school of life sciences x

before you go, just take basic food vessel stuff (like a plate and a set of cuttlery). Once you go to your flat and meet your flatmate, if you get friendly with them, you could ask them if they wanted to share a whole set of asda/ ikea/sainsbury cutlery and pots and pans and plates and all of that. This way, you dont have to pay for ALL of it, plus there arent 8 sets of EVERYTHING in the house. I did it with my friend, and things are so much more convenient.
Also, If you have a bike, then alls good, but if you dont, you should take a look at this. It works out incredibly cheap if you use the bus alot. I had it and i used it literally everyday to get me to my work and back and id take it to uni the days i was getting late :P Its like 180 quid for the whole year. Check if you think it suits you.

The city centre bus stop is called picadilly gardens. The main bus routes you will be needing are-
- from picadilly gardens (city centre) to whitworth park- take bus 142, 42, 43, 143 and get down at the stop that is just AT grove house (you can tell its your stop if you see a place called 'big hands' and 'gemini' to your right and 'mcdonalds' and 'subway' to your left! (yeah all these places are just one minutes walk from where you live :P)

hey, i think you happened to post on your own 'wall' instead of mine. I was just looking around my page to see if youd said anything and noticed you had, but on your own wall
At the main entrance of Whitworth park is this place called grove house. Its got 2 squash courts, a gym, a bar and common room with pool tables and a huge screen, a launderette and a study room with a small computer cluster.
The first day you go to wp, you need to get your keys from grove house. (if im not wrong, the study room and computer cluster is also one of the venues to get your registration done when you get here, so they can give you your uni id card!)
The launderette is pretty cheap, you can do your washing for 2.20 a wash and dry for 1 quid. take your own washing liquid/ tabs. Tabs are better btw :P

It sounds wonderful! so convenient. yes i've been praying for good flatmates (: is there a laundrette nearby or in WP? and also, how do we get thre from the city centre? (: thanks!
-
