Actually, getting rid of spam is exactly what they are meant to do.

I'm not a mod so it wasn't me who deleted them. Anyway, there is no need to post just to subscribe to a thread. Click on 'thread tools' at the top of the thread and then click 'watch thread'. This way threads don't get filled up with spam.
