  1. I honestly don't know exactly how much weight Clare places on GCSEs, but yours are certainly good enough for it to be worth a shot. You will need to get >90% in at least three of your ASs though, and remember to prepare well for the BMAT. Good luck!
  2. Hey sorry just discovered this message! I did/am in the middle of doing bio chem phys maths further maths French
  3. I only just saw your message, sorry! I took Biology,Chemistry,Psychology and Maths
  4. i did physics, biology, maths and chemistry. you'll need biology and chemistry for medicine and maths is one of the easiest a-levels to do. i regret taking physics, despite being intresting it is one of the hardest to get good grades in. if your thinking about oxbridge then you need to over 90% ums for as grades. do as many AS subjects as you can (preferrably 5) as most unis consider ucas tarriffs. do as much voluntary work and work experience as you can as this will help you compete against other applicants. at the start of my a-level, i had no clue about university and what i needed to do medicine, considering you've started thinking so early, i reckon you should get in easily.
  5. Not heard from UCL yet no, but I'm not too bothered as you might expect because Cambridge is my top choice!

My tips for getting into Cambridge? Get HIGH UMS marks and really focus on the BMAT. Those will get you to interview, then if you are the academic type, who can use logic well to work through scientific problems, your interview will be good. Lots of people want to focus on the interview which is important, but because Medicine is so competitive, you have to get the interview first.
  6. All my info is on this post.
If you have any more questions then feel free to ask!
    Best of luck applying,
    Freddie

  7. Business Studies, French, Biology, Chemistry, Maths. Don't listen to people saying not to do stuff like Business, some unis actually seem to appreciate the variety. And don't get too worried or obsessed, just work to get 4As in AS and you can worry about everything else once you've done that
  8. Hey, what year group are you in? I ended up doing Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Maths. What are you thinking of taking?
  9. I'm doing double Maths, physics, chemistry and biology for a level.
  10. hey no problem... with bio chem and maths you pretty much have free rein over your 4th subject and you will meet the admissions policy requirements for everywhere, so all you need to do is choose a subject that has the best overall compromise between enjoyability/interest and how good at it you are.

Also, you asked if "physics is as hard as they make it out to be". Its heavily dependent on the individual. Personally I would be definately better at physics than something like history, but you may well be different. You should have some idea how hard or easy you would find it based upon how hard or easy you found your gcse physics. The key with physics is that in terms of the quantity of work that is thrown at you it isnt as much as other subjects, but parts of it can be quite conceptually challenging - but for me that just makes it that bit more interesting (also the grade boundaries for some of the modules can be low, sometimes under 70% in raw marks can get you an A* after its converted to UMS!!!)
