Hi there! How are you? Are you definitely going to come to St Mary's?
First of all, Creative Writing seems to be a very good course. Many of my friends are doing it and they love it. I am going to take a module in Creative Writing next year as part of my English course as well and I've just heard good things about the lecturers.
Film & Popular Culture, in my opinion, is a good and interesting course too but it can get highly theoretical and complex. I think you've got to have a strong interest in film and pop. culture to really enjoy it. Many people that were in my course this year are going to drop it next year. Some of my friends believed it to be very difficult and if you're more into practical work you should take Media Arts. However, Film and Popular Culture becomes more practical in 2nd and 3rd year. The lecturers are fun in general, some of them a bit dull and there's one I don't particularly like but that's just me...
The campus being small can be a very positive and a very negative thing. It's what you make of it, to be fair! At first I was annoyed because I thought there was nobody who had the same interests as me but I got to know more and more people over the year that had similar interests. I made friends for life in my halls. I also made friends on my course. I suggest you keep an open mind, be friendly and sociable. It is a bit overwhelming at first but you'll be just fine! I love the fact hat it's a small campus. You see your friends/classmates a lot, you get to know friends of friends more quickly, everything you need is close by, it's easy to find your way around, etc.
