hey i'm so sorry i only just saw this message! - i've been travelling for a few months with no internet access- i realise this is incredibly late but if you are still doing/ thinking of doing this: the uni i was at didn't know, i used a teacher from my school as a reference instead and only told my old uni after i'd gotten the offer.
doing a slighltly different subject helped because it showed i didn't just want oxford for it's reputation but that the course appealed to me. i think you need to show that in your statement.
again sorry for the VERY late response!

Felicitations <3
They were okay, I have sort of blanked them out at the moment - I think I did well, but I can never tell. All I have to say is;
YEATSYEATSYEATSYEATS CAME UP
What about you? Art thou still applying to Oxford despite the Winner Trinner place?
-
Yes Oxford is so unique. We are right to give it another go!
True enough about the € !...
I knew I was screwing up I got worse and kept blanking on questions I could have answered perfectly
This is so true, vous m'avez ôté les mots de la bouche as we say in French.
Interviews: I had one at St. Annes, one at New College (magnificent palce), and one at St. Peters too! I was supposed to have two at ChCh but they called me back for a third. Yes I did have a practical, I played some Scriabin (not sure you'll be familiar with him if you're not a 'classical' music addict )... It wasn't a real test, more a formality, so they can be sure you're actually a musician and not some impostor. Are you on gap year or are you in the middle of A levels now?

Yes right place
Wow what a coincidence! Christ Church was amazing wasn't it... I was there from the 5th to the 9th. What about you? True we could have passed each other, and maybe we'll meet next year! Seeing you speak in euros, I suppose you're not from the UK? I live in Paris, France!
About my application: I had 3 interviews at ChCh, and 3 elsewhere. I was an absolute idiot at one the ChCh interviews (first one) and I'm pretty sure that was the 'pivotal moment'... What about you? Any ideas on where you slipped?

In the wrong place (you should either click View conversation or directly post the message on the persons page )! I'm going to apply for Music at Merton College! I was hesitating between Merton and Magdalen but the latter doesn't have accomodation on site for first years... I had applied to Christ Church the first time. How about you? Any ideas yet?

I hope I'm posting this in the right place, I'm so not used to this site yet! Thanks it was good to hear an opinion from someone in the same situation, though I've now decided to do history and english lit next year and reapply for just history at Oxford (I'm a bit uncertain I'll like english anyway) What subject and college are you applying to next year?

Hello, I saw you wrote to dothesnowdome a few weeks ago; I am in the exact same situation as you, and having asked her similar questions I think I can answer a few of yours:
She was at King's College London, and did not tell the university about applying to Oxford. Apparently 'Oxford wasn't particularly interested in the details of her situation, more her academics'. I am not sure you need to inform your current uni, I can't see how they could justify this obligation. Personally, I am not going to tell my uni next year, and even though there is a chance Oxford will phone my uni, I'm pretty sure it is quite slim. Your UCAS form should point out the fact that you are currently elsewhere though, I think its best not to lie.
About the slightly different subject, she was studying History & French and applied to Oxford for French only. You and I are in a slightly different case, because (as I understand) we are applying for essentially the same subject.

You say "Would the tutors be like, she doesn't need to go here, she's fine where she is"; I completely agree, and I am kind of afraid of this myself (I'm going to Durham which is also a fairly respectable university). I think you have to come up with a good reason for wanting to change (explaining how you may not be satisfied with the level or teaching method at your current uni, and then complimenting the qualities of the Oxford course etc. not excellent reasons I know...).
Anyway, hope that helped!
