Roughly how many hours do you work a week, and is it less than your friends have to do for other subjects? Also, is there any reading you'd recommend me doing before first year (if I can get motivated in the summer!!)?

LSE looks horrible, UCL is the only other department worth considering, but I wont turn down cambridge for it...

You are a very formal man and your syntax confuses me to a considerable degree. However, I am taking your reply as some kind of vague, if unenthusiastic, olive branch.

Can you please explain your use of 'player'? It is a term, which in my mind, brings only connotations of macking and game.

I certainly have intellectual ambition and that is not affected - reading the Philosophical Investigations was not a superficial act.

I respect you only for getting into Cambridge for Philosophy - looking at the statistics, it is hard to be optimistic. However, looking at the situation objectively, I have as good a chance as most.

I ask, sincerely and frankly, how is it? Is the heavy workload inspiring or tedious? The atmosphere unpleasantly archaic or magical? The Supervisions awkward or enlightening? I want to know because it is my only concrete ambition and it may well end in failure tomorrow.

The only reason I'm a dick online sometimes is because it is, essentially, anonymous and it's kind of fun, if unfair and cowardly, to wind people up sometimes, you must admit? Well up here in the leeds we enjoy it.

I don't think your comment has that great an effect on my (enormous) ego though and I don't know why you'd imagine it would? Perhaps a log of delusion should be removed from your own eye before you criticise in future.

Well, what happens is that I'm an international student, so this year I was taking a foundation course instead of A-levels. That must be why the dates for the score releases are different. Oh, Christ's is just such an amazing place! I'm kind of jealous, haha! Well, I really hope we'll be seeing each other around in October!

You sat them last week and you get the results in two weeks? That's a very impressive marking rate! We have to wait about 8/9 weeks usually! My offer is from Christ's, not too far from Sidney!
