  1. The teacher you have can really impact quite a bit, I know. I probably wouldn't be doing Spanish right now if my German teacher at GCSE was actually good. I've always preferred German, but after her, there was no way I was doing it!

Nope, MEI, and it's the 13th :/. I guess it's kind of good because it gives me a few days before to prepare, and I have a good 5 days afterwards to prepare for FP2 and physics. 24th is really late! I don't know anyone with an exam after the 20th o.O!
  2. I know right! It's really exciting but yet terrifying at the same time! Ours is like 2 days before, I can't wait for it! The first time in ages I'll be able to relax with friends without the worry of exams haha.

Yeah, everyone was coming out pretty happy.. but that just piled the pressure on even more! I've never really felt very good or relieved after coming out of an exam, I'm always too busy thinking about what I might have gotten wrong .

Yeah, it's really interesting and everything, but the questions just constantly throw me! I never know what to do! I'm not sure about favourite, we do group theory which I hate.. I've recently been told that it constitutes a lot of the maths at uni, which I'm now dreading! Hopefully it's explained a little better :s! I wish we'd done differential geometry instead, it looks really hard but much more interesting to me! :P

Damn, I still have like another 2 after it D:. When is FP3 for you?
  3. I'm trying to stay optimistic, but it isn't easy haha :/. I just keep telling myself it's only one more month of work and then I can relax for ages! :P

It wasn't great to be honest. The examiner was nice, the topic that came up was my favourite, but I just felt like I faltered quite a bit. And when we were talking about the book we'd studied, my tenses were all over the place . I guess I'll just have to try and make up for it in the written paper!

Honestly don't worry about it, staying away from this place is the best thing to do.. it quickly becomes extremely easy to procrastinate! I probably should be doing the same, just under a week until my first exam and then it's pretty much non stop until the end of June .

That's very true! I've figured out that if I can get a very high grade in M2, I can pretty much fail FP3 and still get in. Obviously, I'm still going to try hard but at least with the mock done now I can focus on where to improve. I still can't help but feel I haven't done enough, there's just not enough time!

I hate that situation, when you have to proritise certain exams over others. It's making me feel really unprepared for some of mine!
  4. I hate to say this, but the deadline has arrived, and I've firmed Durham. I think its the best option for me, the collegiate system really does appeal quite a lot. I've been pondering over this decision for a while, so I feel like I've taken everything into consideration. Saying this, I've put Warwick as my insurance, and at the moment, its looking veeery likely I wont meet the Durham offer.. so perhaps I'll see you there!

I doubt looking around Leamington would've have changed your opinion too much, by all accounts it sounds like a really nice place, so I wouldn't worry!

Oh yeah, I completely understand! That sounds like a really awesome Job, though tiring too. Especially if you have to stay inside on wonderful days like over the weekend! . Revision is OK, though I'm kinda in a bit of no mans land at the moment. I have my speaking exam on friday, so I'm revising for that, but at the same time my Spanish grade really isn't important so I'm having to juggle revising for that and my DE exam which is next friday. It isn't great I'll be honest. Ugh, I hated M1. M2 is just as bad, if not worse. Had a mock for it today, pretty sure I failed hard!
  5. Haha yeah me too :/

Well, that's conditional on me firming Warwick, or insuring it and not making the grades for Durham - a decision I still haven't made . Though even if I don't go to Warwick, I'd still like to have you as a friend, you seem like a great person!

Yeah, I know that feeling. Feels so unfair! Thanks, sorry to hear you don't think yours didn't go so great - but I felt the same way last year and did OK, so don't worry too much! I'm always hesitating, I always second guess myself, thinking I've got the conjugation wrong. It's so annoying !

Haha, you sound like my friend :P. He pretty much selected his universities based off their appearance - I think it was like Cambridge, Durham, Bristol and St. Andrews..

I've only been to Coventry, which isn't great if I'm honest! Leamington sounds good though!
  6. I'm sure you will too! Yeah, that's pretty much my life at the moment. I need to feel like I've earned the three months off .

I wouldn't worry about it. It any case, Kaja is a pretty distinctive (and awesome) name, so I'm sure I'd come and find you!

Haha yeah, we do have quite a lot of contact hours.. so front of the queue every time!

I know! It's annoying too, most of my friends exams don't start until early June, so they're all going out to the pub this Friday.. but I really don't think I should because my Spanish speaking exam is a week later, and my first maths exam a week after that! Gah I hate this .

I don't know anyone with an unconditional, I imagine it must be an awesome feeling. An unconditional from Cambridge must be amazing D:.
  7. Yeah, it will be nice!

I guess I should've probably guessed that haha . Well, if I do choose Warwick and we both make it, I'll make sure to try and remember the correct way to say it !

Oh well that's OK then. If people are all doing different courses, they're bound to have different lecture times which should mean they don't all get up at once I suppose. And yeah, the extra money would be very handy!

Same, it's weird. I keep telling myself there's only a couple of months to go, then I remember that as soon as I finish exams I'm just going to be worrying until we find out results!! (yeah, year 13 ).
  8. Haha true, true. Yeah it wasn't great. Took a while to fit in, but they're all nice people so it wasn't too bad.

I feel the same, sorry!! I'm Jamie, and yourself?

Yeah it was the same when I went, which was quite annoying. I'm with you on that one. I've always had to share a bathroom and it's really annoying having to wait and stuff. But the price difference is quite significant. It depends on how many people there are sharing one bathroom I guess. But yeah, in the end I doubt it will make too much difference .
  9. Yeah I think that it's the Shakespearean influence that makes the 'thou' pronoun sound formal, but having studied French it looks a lot like the pronoun 'tu' which is the informal/singular 'you', so they're probably connected through some Latin roots Yeah the maths in FP3 is challenging yet definitely doable, which makes it a very rewarding module to do. The calculator that I use is the Casio fx-991ES, and there's an article on TSR about all of its functions here: http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/wiki...1ES_Calculator so maybe you could see if it'll be a worthwhile investment. It's probably the most advanced calculator that you can take into a-level exams I hope it's not banned at Warwick though, I don't know how their calculator rules for exams go.

Yeah I do OCR, I really like their physics papers now compared to what I've seen of the others. But I have still had enough time to also compile a booklet from AQA papers on topics that crossover between the two boards aha :P I can send it in a message if you want.

I served wine to a very interesting person today
  10. I'll take your word for it haha .

I know right? It's really hard to get your hand in the right orientation sometimes! Hopefully there won't be too many people in the exam hall other than those doing physics :P.

Same here. I didn't go to the school that my sixth form is attached to, so when I came here everyone already had friends, which made it a lot harder to make new ones! I like the idea of a level playing field haha .

Yeah, I guess there are a lot of issues with it, and in the end it's not worth going if you won't enjoy it, which I don't think I would. Not had a look at accommodation yet, but it's not one of my biggest concerns at the moment.. you?
