I love maths, it's such a fantastic subject. "Right or wrong, black or white, makes it so simple and yet so frustrating" one of my personal favourite description of maths.
Ah, snap, I live about an hour or so away, maybe a little under!
Hmm, I'll try and have a look about D1 during summer see what it encompasses!
Edexcel, oh my, 3 of my 4 subjects are with them and they have caused me quite some grief this exam season. Despite you not having sat the C3 exam and not being able to understand some of the humour in this, I still feel the need to share this with you, in case you haven't seen it. Watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zcuxh6DZtAE
I know what you mean, studying subjects you like is kind of nice, though exam stress and the prospect of university and the pressure on a whole is not so nice.
I'm very impressed by your mathematical references, please keep them up. What sport did you play? I need to become more active, that's on my agenda too! Thanks for reminding me!
Yeah it's a nice way to ease us into the swing of things. Can't wait to start FP2, we're doing so soon!
I'd love to be able to go to Imperial and UCL - London has my eye and those two universities are like my dream. However results dependent and I pray I'm lucky.
I've heard many a thing about D1 and not positive either, not going to lie it doesn't sound like a great bundle of joy. Is it exam technique in a sense?
That's the worst feeling, feeling you haven't done justice to yourself and your score doesn't reflect your true knowledge/capability. I can empathise deeply.
Ah yes, that C3 paper was rather horrid, I have a feeling I'll end up retaking. I mean the best of the two will count. Edexcel have really been cruel this year, with them for Physics and unit 1 was a dismay. I can't believe Edexcel, they have irritated me so much this exam season. Dreading my results from them.
As do I, came home and was thinking "hmm what shall I revise today?" then realised there is no revision sheer horror struck me. Aim of the game right now is to stay on top of everything I'm doing for A2, let's see how long this lasts
I plan to try and discover/redevelop/attain a social life to sum it up now that exams are over hahahaha. How about yourself?
Just started C4 (after my C3, got homework too! Not a break ) started with implicit differentiation with one teacher and partial fractions, both nice and interesting and easing us into the world of C4!
That sounds very interesting! Where abouts are you looking?
What even is D1? Is it exams that are hard, the content? I hate graphs, oh dear sounds like a bundle of joy.
Don't be too disheartened by this, this afterall is just an AS module, we're saving the intense smashing for next years A2 modules, after all that's where the smashing is better worth.
I AM FREEEEEEEEEEE. I am going to be retaking C3, literally everyone in my FM class is planning to. It was a disgusting paper, I felt so disheartened. The girl next to me was crying, I guess I'm in a better state in that I'm in year 12, I think her offer was an A* in maths so she must be so worried. It was such a weird paper, can't even express to you.
So tell me what's new found freedom like? How are you celebrating?
Ooh, did you have any maths lessons today? How was your first glimpse of A2 maths?
What do you want to do at university? I'm assuming maths. Whatever would've given that idea when you said you're taking STEP I will be taking C4, S2, M2, D1, FP2 and FP3 So a few common modules there!
I think I have made a few careless errors, can't remember my exact answers for some of them which is frustrating, but just gonna pray it goes okay really! I found timing a bit hard I don't know why I didn't finish finish there was a question I didn't manage to complete though I'm counting on method marks.
I'll be sure to keep you updated as to what exciting things are waiting ahead of you! Nothing like a good 'ole guilt trip You're taking M3? What other modules are you taking? I would've taken M2 and C4 in Jan if January exams were still with us.
That's brilliant time management, I hope I'm just as lucky with my timing tomorrow. This is a module where you sure need to be able to check over make sure you haven't made any careless mistakes.
Hahaha, thank goodness you aren't Arsey otherwise you sure would feel people's wrath!
Wow, that's quite some smashing That's the spirit! Make them examiners never forget the brilliance that is your answers and feel blessed to have marked such a spectacular exam performance.
I'm interested to see what C4 has in store for me after my exams are over. Bring on C4! Do you like your proofs? Trigonometric proofs come upon you like no other in C3!
That's good, you'll be like boom having done it in no time whilst there will be me and plenty of others doing the 8/9 lines of working
Arsey is great, he's so helpful and I really appreciate the effort and time he puts in when he could much rather be doing something else.
I hope I smash it and I hope you do too!
Then you'll adore C3 the trig and differentiation does become rather exciting
Yeah that does seem to make sense. Have you self-taught yourself implicit/parametric differentiation then? I definitely think it should be at least taught in the FP1 syllabus, if it makes life a hell of a lot easier.
No, not at all, differently within the range (tackling a bit of C3 sense of humour now!)
TSR scares me, you have no idea how mortified I am if some of my papers are as "easy" as claimed due to the UMS boundaries. I sure do hope you're right.
Good luck for FP1 tomorrow!
Do you like trig and differentiation? If so that makes up like half/over half of C3 so you'll breeze right through it
Yeah, if it was a hard question that I was struggling with then I'd cut myself some slack (lol slack, ah M1, it's been long ) but not a question which you knew. Damn those exam nerves
Arsey's solutions have two reactions when looked at: 1) sudden sense of hope, relief and excitement for results day or 2) anxiety, panic attacks, the likes
Do you think TSR is a more scaled up version of the country's performance in an exam?
Did you self-teach yourself C3? That's so annoying. I'm doing/did 6 maths exams (3 for maths and 3 for further) on top of my other subjects this summer!
Same, I made a mistake and then realised like 2 minutes towards the end and in the middle of correcting I ran out of time. Perfect The worst thing is to lose marks on something so incredibly easy which you thought you had in the bag.
I hope so. Come on TSR just to find Arsey thinking it's fine, other people being like "yeah, good paper" just makes you feel like what is wrong with me!
(posting on your page instead of the thread due to the drift in topic )
I have C3 13th, in my school further maths people do C3 a year early so that's why it's extended it a bit.
I epically failed M1 I think. I hope this is definitely one of those "did better than you think, edexcel will pity you, boundaries will be in your favour" moments.
