That's a fine way of thinking, I believe that this is similar to ancient Rome as one who stepped outside the law, also stepped outside the protection of it. Not that it's exactly the same as what you were saying, but similar. The only drawback is that with something like this, identifying those, to whom society has no duty is rather difficult.

What's your opinion, by the way?

I am very angry that many quite left leaning politicians, are using this as a political tool to further their own ambitons. Often these people come up with quite snazzy sounding theories to explain this behaviour, which sound credible to people watching at home, but then that's what social science is-Annoying lefties applying big words to rather simple ideas to sound clever(I apologise if you're a social scientist, I don't mean to be rude I'm just being honest about my opinion).

I do think that these problems could have been avoided if immigration was handled in a better way; in principle I am in faviour immigration, so long as the government can be sure that those coming in will have jobs to be able to go to. It's not just immigration in my opinion but, the government allowing the population, of what can in some ways be considered an underclass, to grow, seemingly ignoring the problems which would come into existence in the future.
