Sorry to see that you didn’t get an offer from Oxford. I do hope that you know that it is a massive achievement even to get an interview for Oxford. So I hope you aren’t too disheartened and that you are proud of yourself for getting an interview. Admissions tutors have to choose between candidates who are almost exactly the same on paper, so sadly there is often an element of luck about the whole thing, and there are many exceptional candidates who are not offered a place.
I wanted to get in touch to let you know about New College of the Humanities. Frank Costello and Alfred Perry who were at Alleyn’s joined us in September last year and are both really enjoying what we have to offer. We offer a History BA taught via one-to-one tutorials and are outside of UCAS so we don’t count as one of your five choices. If this sounds interesting, take a look at our website (www.nchum.org) and I can always put you in contact with Frank or Alfred.
Either way, we wish you the best of luck for your future studies.
I see that you are applying to Oxford University. I am a graduate of Oxford, and I’m starting a tutoring service for Oxford applicants. I have a few spots left for 2013. I can help you with your UCAS personal statement/college choice, and with interview and entrance exam preparation. Please contact me if you are interested, and we’ll take it from there.
