  1. I don't know how it works these days since we gave you all out slips about applying in the last session of your BLS training; idk whether you have to email them these days or if you needed to sign something on paper or whether they'll just email you.

It's something like £25 or £50, but so long as you actually go to your training, they destroy them and your money is never withdrawn.
  2.

It's not very involved at all; though it has changed slightly since I applied since it was done by email previously and now you got the application information forms on the last day of the training?

They used to ask for just 100 words saying why you want to do it, a new cringing catchphrase for the back of the teacher t-shirts and a deposit cheque for your training (doesn't actually cost anything; they only cash it if you fail to attend). Between how good your 100 words are and how soon you get your application in that's pretty much it; I don't know if they have a record of if you failed your BLS exam first time and had to resit or not and whether they'd use it as a factor.
  3. 'Hi Chris, my name is [x] and I [study at Birmingham?] and [somehow I know you're a BLS teacher] so I was wondering if it'd be alright to ask you about that?'

An introduction is usually the standard social convention before requesting to become friends and going into questions, you know?
