Thanks very much! I will be sectioning all of my hair first, but I'm really not sure how thick I want them just yet. Last time I made dreads on someone he wanted small, thin ones and we ended up doing 55 in total, which took 3 days! Well I'm away for a few days now and then going to comic con next weekend. After that it's dreads away! Can't wait! Thanks for your advice, it's been really helpful. Nice to talk to someone about it all rather than just reading forums... It can be a minefield of different opinions in there!

Ah fair enough. I think that's why friend #2 didn't want to use wax. I was considering it because friend #1 waxed his when he got them and 3 years on they look absolutely fantastic and he doesn't have problems with them. I haven't bought any wax anyway, but was considering it. I'm going to be starting mine the same way as I have done with my friends, backcombing/crochet. My hair is SUPER thick and long so I am setting aside a whole weekend for it! I'm hoping that as I have some experience I will be able to do the front of my head to speed up the process a bit, although I'm debating whether to leave my fringe un-dreaded as I like that look too.

Going to be getting them in 2 weeks, I can't wait! I hate brushing my hair after a wash because it tangles so easily and is a nightmare. Did you wax yours? I hear good things and bad - I have a friend who waxed and his look great and a friend who didn't and his look straggly but they are new, so I'm not sure which way is best.

Hey bit of a random message, but I was skulking around TSR today and noticed you said in a post that you have dreads. I'm looking for a bit of advice as I am going to be getting dreads in a couple of weeks, and would like to know which kind of shampoo/washing method people would recommend. I have made dreads on a few of my friends over the years and they all recommend the dreadheadhq stuff which is insanely expensive!
