Hi dragon_knight! How're you finding HKU MBBS?
I've submitted my application to both HKU and CUHK and like everyone else I'm desperate to hear from them!

Hey dragon knight. Can you tell me a bit about the undergraduate Medical Engg at hku? May be about how competitive it is, number of international students to be admitted, requirements etc. Also I haven't applied yet but I want to apply via non-jupas scheme for international students as well as entrance scholarship btw end of may and mid june? Can I apply as late applicant? I read that late applications can be accepted only from students that do not need student visa and I need student visa. Also idept of engineering accepts late applications. Does it apply to international applicant?

Hello, I hope you don't mind me asking some questions about HKU.
So here goes the story: my friend completed his application to HKU around late march and he applied for Biomed, MBBS, and BEng for 1st, 2nd, 3rd choice respectively. He got 4A*s(physics, chinese, chem, maths) and some As and Bs for his IGCSE, and C in English first language for his IGCSE, resulting in a distinction. His grades in school are, well, not really outstanding, but considering he was a mainlander attending an international school with CIE qualifications, he adapted very well to the academic situation. His grades are quite okay, not outstanding, but slightly above average as well. So he got 5As(Chinese, maths, physics, bio, chemistry) and one E(General Paper) resulting in a distinction as well. He got rejected for his first and second choice, leaving BEng under consideration, whereas his friend(applied for biomed) who has lower grades than him and not even a single A in his a levels, was accepted with a conditional offer of AAA which greatly surprised me. So this is what I am pondering about, does HKU accept students on a first come, first served basis, or is my friend rejected due to insufficient grades? And I wonder if he would get a chance to be accepted(with a conditional offer) for BEng(not specified)? Would appreciate answers very much! Thanks in advance

Hmmm, I don't suppose they'll spend the money on long distance call, so I think I'll just have to rely on email since you said the online portal is unreliable.

Majority of my friends who go in med schools say that their interview was bad. I think that if that was so it may be the fact that they were interested in you from the beginning. On the contrary, pleasant interviews imply that chances are slim (interviewers not interested in the candidate). I m international but my maternal relatives are in HK.

Hahaha to be your classmate for now it's just wishful thinking unfortunately esp in this highly competitive entrance to HKU. But thanks for your well-wishes

Jan results are released tomorrow so I will know if I can get more than 540/600...my AS biology sucks as well..only ~85% Hope I can get more than 90% this time.
Ha..I saw that your barts interview is on the 2/2 as well. But I was not there as I changed the interview day to the 14/2 and I am still waiting for their reply.

btw Do you get more than 540/600 in 4/5 subjects(for cuhk) ? coz 540/600 in biology is quite hard..'(my biology suxks lol)
