  1. Heyy, ahh I genuinely feel disappointed for you! But I'm not going UCL either, guess it just wasn't meant to be. That's pretty frustrating, the being a few marks off an A bit!

So I firmed SOAS (who asked for AAA) and insured UCL (who asked for ABB), even though I was really aiming for UCL it just made more sense at the time. I would only really consider Anthro at either SOAS or UCL, so I declined my other offers. I knew that there was no chance I would get the grades for SOAS so I firmed them because UCL had lower grade requirements so it just made more sense. You're probably wondering what on earth I'm taking about but I guess it's hard to explain my (questionable) logic .

Anyway on results day I managed ABB, which was disappointing to be honest with you. I saw Track before I received my results, and so I was shocked that SOAS and UCL had given unconditional offers; UCAS automatically gave me a place at SOAS because they were my firm choice. I don't think I particularly deserved it either, I was just so lucky they offered me a place! I'm happy with going to SOAS though..

So are you thinking of reapplying for Anthro next year or no plans yet? Let me know how your year out pans out too!
  2. Hii how did your results go? Did you get into UCL?
  3. Sorry for the very very late reply. Since the exams I've been avoiding thinking about August 16th, but today I decided to just be brave and do a little research on Clearing So here I am on TSR.. Feeling a little pessimistic today

Yep I did English Lit, but it was the WJEC Board.. I have to admit English Lit was the last thing on my mind, which was probably unwise in hindsight :| The only revision I did was last minute, frantic memorisation of key quotes and skim-reading York Notes :s

Yeah I know we have ages to wait still, but I can't help worrying about it... And there's no question about it, I'm doing the same if I'm just slightly below!
  4. Heyy! Yeah it's been ages! I've been so busy with revision and all that, just come on TSR to check unofficial mark schemes for my maths exams mainly

Oh me too, I don't think I'm getting the grades either =[ I am trying reallyy hard to get A's but I think I'm just a B person haha.. Is there no way you're getting the grades you need? If there is hope then try and stay positive there's no point getting down about it If I don't get the grades for UCL (which is very very likely) I'll probably end up going through Clearing.. Or maybe even take a gap year.. I've been thinking about this a lot and the way my exams are going, I think I'm going to end up with B's.

Anyway let's see how it turns out. You never know, maybe UCL loved our entrance essays SO much that they'll be a bit lenient? xx
  5. Aw that's so annoying =L The way you're going though, sounds like you'll manage to get those A's x] I honestly don't think our essays were different in any way though, so I honestly don't see why we got different offers. Personal statement maybe? Thing is mine was pretty weak if I'm being honest.. :s

So was the few marks off an A in English Lit? That's the worst thing! Being so close to the next grade up..

Aw you must have been over the moon when you saw "conditional" lol.. Now to actually get the grades...

Let me know when you decide what you're insuring n that Yeah the universities do tend to do that haha.. I'm going to book a place on an open day right now actually xD Today's mostly just been a big relief..
  6. Oh I got AAB =s I only just realised we got different offers! O.O

Thanks lol... It's okay, Maths I mean.. and yeah Critical Thinking is a bit pointless though Because the unis don't really consider it =/ And yeah, I was amazed I got an A because I was so sure I had gotten like a D or something :s

Wow!! That's amazing! Usually on the sheet your sixth form gives you, they show you your new AS grade, they did for mine anyway...

Yeah I agree, it's been a wicked day xD Also it's my little sister's birthday, and my other sister's done well with her GCSE's =] Happy times And trust me, I felt my heart drop when I saw the email, I was mentally preparing myself for a rejection. It was amazing.

I haven't decided what I'm firming or insuring yet. First I want to visit UCL, and then I think it's going to be between SOAS and UCL. I have a feeling I'm going to Firm UCL and insure SOAS. By the way, are we supposed to get anything directly from UCL? Because all I've gotten so far is the ucas update..
  7. Yay thank god It would have been horrible if one of us hadn't gotten an offer

And my results were okay. I managed to boost my AS Maths grade from a B to an A because of a Stats retake, which I'm very glad about, and I got an A in Critical Thinking somehow. :s
But I did a history retake but my overall AS History grade is still a B Also, I'm going to have to retake C3 in Maths because I did terrible in that, I got an E. O.O

    U??
  8. Just after I got my January exam results I got an email from ucas track.
    UCL OFFERED ME A PLACE!!:nutcase::nutcase::nutcase::nutcase::nutcase:

Please tell me you got an offer too? :cry2:

    Yeah man!

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear! I can't imagine how it feels, I'm dreading UCL now. I've stupidly set my heart on UCL, so a rejection will mess everything up!

Hmmmn, that is a pretty steep offer. But tbh its not impossible, surely? What did you get at AS? Just believe in yourself man! Besides, just keep an open mind about UCL, you'll be fine! I'm the same, completely ruled out Goldsmiths. Liverpool is still on the table though! If UCL decide they dislike me I might have to take a gap year. But as you say, that wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing!
  10. True they might not actually get around to replying to everyone this week..

Bit down today because I got a reply from LSE today and it wasn't a good one, 'unsuccessful.' I'm so depressed now lol even though I was expecting a rejection but it's still almost painful haha.. guess it all just depends on UCL.. I actually need them to offer me a place now...

Oh cool yeah me too def wanna travel.. Well it's really complicated but I'm going to explain it to you anyway haha, SOAS asks for AAA, and so does Brunel for their Academic Excellence Scholarship, and I don't think I'm going to seriously consider Goldsmith's, so right now with the offers I have I either have to get AAA or I personally don't think it's worth going to Brunel or Goldsmiths.. I only really picked Goldsmith's because I had a fifth choice left.. So yeah I highly doubt I'm realistically going to get AAA, so if UCL rejects me I'm almost sure I'm going to take a gap year and reapply for anthro next year. Although I might even apply for a different course altogether..

If i take a gap year I could write a muchh better personal statement and all of that..
