Saw your coming to MMU in September. I'm a veteran MMU student and we've made some Facebook groups to keep everyone updated on whats happening, and a go to point if you have any questions about going out / accommodation / jobs etc.

I really like it, but I don't think I've seen the whole thing. I thought it was cool that they managed to include John's POV through old interviews. Does it offer much new? I only recall the first part, before they became really famous. I've got the book, but I haven't read too much of it.

Sorry it took so long to reply, I haven't really been online. I like to play Beatles stuff too, and Little Richard, Chuck Berry tunes and the kind of rock and roll that inspired the Beatles, who started me on that sort of music. I'm not really that good, so I don't tend to try anything too difficult.

I love that you play harmonica, I've always wanted one! I bet that's fun to play to Beatles tunes. Do you like any of the band's post-Beatles music in particular? And what did you think of Free as a Bird/Real Love/Beatles Anthology?

I saw a (damaged) Beatles For Sale LP for only £2 in a charity shop today, I was pathetically excited haha.

I'm the same, it's mostly 60s stuff really. I like everything you listed, but I admit I don't think I've ever heard a Beautiful South song Aside from those, I love the Animals, Small Faces, Loretta Lynn, Elvis Presley, The Byrds, Jefferson Airplane, the Jimi Hendrix Experience etc. I also have an undying love for Al Bowlly and 30s music

I agree about songwriting, it really annoys me when singers who don't write or play claim to be 'musicians'. And I too play the guitar! I also tried to take up drums once but I was hopeless. What's your opinion on Nirvana, by the way? People are always going on about how great they are, but I don't really get it...

Yeah, I read both. In some ways they're kind of contradictory though; in the first one she makes him sound like a pretty absent father before the divorce and doesn't really say anything negative about after but in her second, she makes him seem wonderful before he met Yoko and then completely insane and cold after. They're quite good books, but offer more insight into John's character than the music or the band itself. I always feel bad about reading books about him though, it feels like a complete invasion of his privacy.

So what other music are you into?

Ha yeah, I'm the same. I can recall even the tiniest details regarding the Beatles, but ask me anything about the things I'm studying and I haven't a clue! Have you ever read either of Cynthia Lennon's books?

Ah was that Revolution in the Head? If so, that's a great book!

We've been learning HTML in Dreamweaver, but nothing particularly in depth. I do actually find it quite fun though, seeing how it looks with different additions. I studied for an Art & Media Diploma for my first year but the college shut down the course so switched us to a BTEC in Creative Media Production. There's a little bit of IT but mostly it's film-making and motion graphics. I've never heard of the RNLI, I had to Google it, although I probably should have worked it out by your mentioning boats! That's cool that you did a Beatles presentation, what did you have to talk about?

I see that you're studying web design. I have to do that as part of my current course, made a Beatles fansite for my coursework I really admire people who do web design, I can't get my head around it.
