Hi Josephtui,
I notice you recently posted about the senior phyiscs challenge, and having looked at your profile, it seems like you managed to get in.
I am currently in year 12, and thinking of doing physical natsci, and was wondering if you had any advice about the spc/ doing natsci..about the spc, is it hard to get in? no one from my school, not even the teachers have heard of it and on the website it looked really good...so I really want to get in...
Any advice would be really grateful,,

Sounds good to me. I'd say it's best to pick either Chemistry or Materials to go with those two as they will be most complimentary (Materials will help a lot with Condensed Matter, while Chemistry will help a bit more with Molecular/Atomic Physics and Thermodynamics). I'd also say pick Maths B over A to begin with.

Hey, sorry no I didn't see your message. The book is great, it'll get you through the first and most of the second year of maths. Vector calculus is taught in the second term of the first year, then expanded upon in the first term of second year (assuming you do IB Maths that is). You'll use it a lot in Physics B in second year when you study Electromagnetism and Fluids.
The best way to prepare for IA Maths and Physics is probably just to make sure your Further Maths knowledge is up to date (FP1-3/4, Mechanics etc), work through the Maths booklet they'll send you (can be accessed here: http://www.maths.cam.ac.uk/undergrad...e/workbook.pdf) and if you really run out of things to do you can try some of the exercises in Riley, Hobson and Bence!

I typically get about 70-80 and sometimes mote on the BPhO paper 2s (now round one). The first question is straight forward. Mechanics is probably the most important area to go us on for interview, so I was told, but it won't hurt to try brush up on all areas

yeah, I just wrote about why I liked the Cambridge course, my interest in earth sciences and my chemistry competition position. Didn't use all the characters, and its not as refined as the ps for ucas. I wouldn't worry about it too much, if you've nothing else to add you don't need to

Not sent it yet, just got to finish of the education section and re-read my extra information section to decide whether or not to keep certain parts of my additional SAQ. You did choose King's in the end then? We could see each other at interview, perhaps? ^_^

Well, I haven't got really any lap reports, I guess I'll have to do some experiments on my own then. I did some rather interesting experiments during the Senior Physics Challenge, maybe I can redo one of them and write about it. But I guess it's not really that important, it's just to get you to talk about something you have done so they can ask you questions about it.

Ah, excellent, thank you. I'll just take my A2 coursework along I think. It was a lot of fun! Not sure they'll want to read through 40 pages though... >.<

No, I have never heard of this, could you link me to the source? Slightly worrying, I think I'll just bring my A2 coursework if required.

I believe it only requires it for Biological Students. Although it's very straightforward and shouldn't put you off regardless.
