For me, I have finished the AS level this year and I will be going to the uni next year after completing the A2 level (hence after completing the A level ). However, I've already started choosing the unis which I want to go to since you have to submit a personal statement and should complete some kind of form on the UCAS website which would be sent to the unis you wish to apply to. In other words, you should choose the unis a year ealier so I advise you to go to the open days this year as they would help you at choosing the unis you'll be applying to.
