I noticed later on that the document that UCAS sends contains all three of my applications; my 2006 biomed application, my 2009 dentistry application and my current 2012 dentistry application ... so it's defo been worth the £10. Was quite nice to read the reference that my college tutor wrote 5 years ago, the length of that was 700 words, whereas my current one is 230 words lol.

how is your application going? did you apply to be a healthcare assistant in the end?

It's the skills you acquire being a healthcare assistant that are relative to dentistry - good patient communication skills, manual dexterity (I can take blood), time management skills, empathy, understanding of the way the NHS works and it's upsides and downsides, independence, teamwork etc etc.

I got 675 in my ukcat this year but only cos I did really well in tw final section - 860 lol - I've no idea how! But I did poorly in verbal and maths. All you can do in my opinion is keep doing as much practice material as you can get your hand on. Learn to speed read and do mental arithmetic as often as possible - try and incorporate it into everday life.

I got 4 interviews but I only went to the Bristol one because I got my offer before my other interviews came up. Before interview think of all the possible questions that could come up and prepare answers for them. Obviously don't learn them by heart but get a few bullet points of what you could talk about. I applied to kings 5 and 4 year and Cardiff 5 year. Cardiff and Bristol are only 5 year courses. Having said this - I don't know if you know about the EU legislation stuff - there might not be any 4 year dentistry courses around anymore - it's being decided at the end of this year as far as I'm aware. Unless its changed recently...
