I did indeed do my A-levels over three years, but I haven't taken a "gap year" as such, just stayed in sixth form for three years. I've recieved offers from Cambridge and Warwick so far, and am still waiting on Imperial and UCL. Warwick's offer is just the standard offer, minus the grades I already have. On the other hand, Cambridge are asking for high grades from this year on top of the ones I already have, but there could be a few reasons for this. I think universities look at you the same as long as you have something to show for it. I mean, if you were simply to do 4 A-levels over three years, when many people do that in two years, then that could be less well looked upon. So it depends on your situation really: what you plan to do with your gap year, how many A-levels you do, what subject you plan to study at university etc...
