Yeah I think that's the same in AQA. It's allowed in Maths but Physics A-level isn't mathsy enough to allow that

Fair enough. Yeah I do find they can be very picky with marking - seems physics is a subject they think you must phrase it as quoted in the mark scheme or you don't get the mark. Even if what you said is correct in some cases; just not the exact thing they wanted detailing etc. One question asked why pressure increases with temperature (describing on a molecular level) in a closed container and I talked about more collisions which was actually one of the marks, but you had to write collision WITH WALL of container or you get no marks for that point. Seems silly to me but it just means you have to put extra effort into understanding how the mark scheme wants the answer.
