A bit about Leicester
At Leicester, we’re continually striving to use our academic expertise to increase our understanding of the world, so that we might change it for the better. We’ve made many important discoveries along the way, from developing the sick bay of the future to unearthing a lost city from an ancient civilization in Libya – an astonishing find that could re-write history. We’ve bought together just a few of the many amazing discoveries that have been made at Leicester to show you how we’ve made our mark. How will you make yours?
Some universities consider their primary purpose to be high quality research, others concentrate on excellent teaching. At Leicester we think that the two are inseparable. We believe that teaching is more inspirational when delivered by passionate academics engaged in world-changing research.
The Times Higher Education applauded Leicester’s unique approach, calling us “elite without being elitist”. We were proud to be described as elite. But we were equally proud to be seen as inclusive and accessible – we are the only UK top 20 university to meet Government set benchmarks for inclusivity. We’re highly ranked, consistently in the top 20 of major national tables including 17th in the Guardian.
We are also ranked top after Oxbridge for student satisfaction in the 2011 National Student Survey amongst 120 mainstream public universities in the UK.
