About me

I am a 25 year old female, have been living in sunny, beachy old Bournemouth for a few years, working for the charity Mind, which I still do at weekends while I take my current Access course (see academic info). I am a vegan (11 years now, veggie since in utero); enjoy outdoor sports (participated in UK 3 peaks, 24 hours challenge last year and preparing to walk the 630 mile South West Coast Path with my other half this summer); listen to all sorts of music, mostly folk, blues, rock; and I love drawing, painting and making anything. Quiet and quirky but with a good sense of humour. It would be great to meet other people who are going to University of Sussex this September, especially to study Geography, Ecology and Environment or International Development, or other mature students (have felt a bit old and worried about fitting in at open and admissions days). Would also be great to read about anyone's university experiences, again especially those not coming straight from school/sixth form

Academic Info

Currently nearing the end of an Access to High Education diploma in Biology and Chemistry. I hope to go to university to study Geography BSc in September 2012 and have accepted Sussex and firm choice and Royal Holloway as insurance. Although the broad, interdisciplinary nature of Geography is one of its big selling points to me, because I can't help but think how everything is related and needs to be considered in context, I have a particular interest in environmentally sustainable practises and in wildlife conservation, so will be choosing electives from Ecology and Biology course modules, unless I have a sweeping change of heart.
