It says I can't PM you because your inbox is full, so I'll just post my reply here:
Glad to be of assistance
I got the same amount of A*s at GCSE as you, and I got A's, so there's no reason why you can't if you put the work in. Regarding the jump, don't stress about receiving low grades at first, the improvement over the year is drastic (I went from barely a C to a high A in French, for example). I just made sure I kept on top of/ahead of my workload, especially due to essay subjects. The people that don't do as well in the exam are the ones who put off coursework and don't have as much time for revision in the end. Besides, it's so comforting to go into an exam knowing that you already have 40% of your grade banked.
Hope that answers your question

Hi, I'll try to keep this short. Politics is not a difficult Alevel as long as you revise and develop your essay writing techniques.
Read as many political news articles as you can, it will prove beneficial to your understanding of politics. Avoid reading "the sun" and try "the guardian". Use the information in the articles to gain an in-depth understanding of Politics.
When in lessons, it is very important you focus on "examples". Your teachers will explain it in detail but it will make up about 70% of your marks. For every question asked make sure you have recent Political examples followed by your own analyses of it. I'll give you an example; "To what extent is the current coalition a strong government". To answer that you could say "the current coalition between the lib dems and conservative party are not in consensus over David Cameron's health care reforms; this evidence suggests a weak and indecisive government etc...."
The great thing about Edexcel politics is that you have a lot of choice when it comes to doing exam papers, every unit you study will come up in the exam questions and you will have a choice of which to pick. This means that if you are weak on one particular topic, it wont hinder your exam success very much.
It also gives you a chance during revision to focus on the topics you excel at the most. The exams are fairly predictable based on past papers etc.
I have many grade A essay example (which I wrote myself) if you need them simply message me. Apologies for any spelling mistakes.
