I do joint honours - so I do a 2/3 linguistics and 1/3 Japanese - I only take the language module, so I can't help you with the choice between 2 or 3 subjects. Sorry! It wasn't difficult at first since you just do kana for the first two weeks - but past those two weeks you need to start worrying about kanji and vocab tests. You just need to find a time to prepare for all of these - it's not difficult, but you need to be prepared to do several hours work outside of class. Get over that intial hump and then it's pretty smooth sailing from there. To be fair, I didn't like linguistics at first as it was really difficult - but again there's an intial curve which once you get over, you will find it plain sailing. The first semester work is also used in the second semester work so make sure you revise it! Second semester I felt was better since you get to do some dialectology (interesting), morphology (like a puzzle) and historical linguistics - but this has a high workload!

Yep, I have an offer for Combined, primarily English Literature, but I want to also take Japanese and something else. Wasn't sure about the third one tho

Applied for Modern Languages, so combined Spanish and Japanese (hopefully with a bit of Catalán thrown in ). Are you hoping to go there too?
