It wasn't too bad as critical thinking was only 1hr 30 mins a week. English Literature was quite difficult but it was nice to do a subject that wasn't science-related. It was very enjoyable though.
The Gold DofE takes 2 years to complete if you haven't done the bronze or silver. I just went straight to gold.

Nah I don't do Sociology as an A-Level, I don't study under the British system. I just find it mildly interesting.

I just signed up at my college. Your college should run one and if they don't, speak to someone at your college to find out where you can sign up. Most places are always looking to take on volunteers. It doesn't have to be a big organisation; it could just be a small local club. I think I found mine on the do-it website for voluntary work.
Those are good choices. I did English Literature, Critical Thinking, Chemistry, Biology and Maths with Statistics. I carried on with the maths and sciences.

On my personal statement, I started off by talking about why I wanted to study medicine. My next paragraph went on to talk about all of the work experience I had done so far. I did some extra work experience after I applied so I could talk about something else if I got any interviews. In the next paragraph, I went on to speak about my voluntary work and what I learned from it. In the same section, I also wrote about my Duke of Edinburgh's Gold award, my participation in the school netball team and how I play the piano. Somehow, you need to try and relate everything in you personal statement to medicine.
What subjects are you taking for your A-levels?

It is not easy. I would say it is pretty hard but if you do the work, you get a good grade. Also if you chemistry and maths I think it gets easier. If you do maths, the maths in physics will be pretty easy. And if you do chemistry, there is definitely cross over of the content. Definitely worth thinking about doing it in your position.
