By the way, I have (obviously) largely stopped checking this website of late since everything wound up, but if you want to add me on Facebook then we can keep in touch!
www.facebook.com/schichtoe should find me, or alternatively add the same username on Skype.

I see you deleted your last post before I could respond, but I largely agree with it - the "humour" was very wide of the mark.

Me too, but I'm at university in Edinburgh, so it's my fourth year here.

Hello! History/Philosophy of Science sounds great. Are you in your last year of undergraduate work? Keep in touch and I look forward to meeting you in October. -Nandan.

Hello there, I understand your applying for the Mphil in Modern European History too? What is your area of interest?
-
Yes hopefully it's an insight into demand rather than the level of quality an application would require! I think probably the former option - even at BA level demand is far lower at Oxbridge than it is at places like Manchester - perhaps people are put off by the challenge or don't feel they'll belong ?
-
Wow! Can't complain at that! You basically have an 80% chance of an offer! I think my medieval one hovers around 66-70%. It does seem rather good, doesn't it? Perhaps History MAs aren't that popular?
-
Yes New is one of the oldest ironically!
I know what you mean about it being a little cosier- I think so too. Actually website quality is one reason why I latched onto Worcester- you could actually request a prospectus!
I think Phd scholarships are a little more common as MAs don't tend to have quite as much funding, from what I've gathered.
It's all very scary but still really exciting to think there is a chance that it might work out, fingers crossed
Have you managed to check CamData for admission stats for your course?
-
Yes honestly I'm not that shallow!
I think you can pick 2, a first and second choice. Kings is nice, though apparently it's really hard to get tickets for events. Are you aiming for the nice, traditional college style? I have friends at Emmanuel and Newnham at Cambridge and New, Exeter and somewhere else that I can't remember at Oxford.
How come you think you have a better chance with Oxford?
Wow, I have work to do then! Funding is a little scary- getting it for a Phd is what really stresses me out! Do you plan to carry on after your MA?
-
I'm sure you have a better shot at getting funding than me Hugh Laurie went to Selwyn apparently (not that it would be a reason for liking it of course!) and I did think about Trinity too, but it's an A Class college so chances of getting in are a little on the low side, so it potentially wasting a spot on the application and tiptoeing closer to the 'pool', so I think I will play it safe with B colleges which do you have your eye on at Cambridge? Oh, only literally extended bullet points strung together in the back of a notebook! Worry not! Though if I may ask, how far are you through editing? I have the same fears!
