Hmmm hmmm, perhaps it was not a good idea to put off Dynamics until now.
Either that, or I'm being stupid. How does one get from
\displaystyle \left^4 \frac{d\theta}{dt} = \frac{h}{{r_0}^2}
and
\displaystyle r = r_0 \left( \sec \frac{1}{2}\theta \ri…

Re: damn wronskians
You've integrated, so remember you need a constant of integration::
\frac{dW}{W} = (q/p)dx \rightarrow logW = \frac{p}{q} + log(k) where logk is just an arbitrary constant. Rearranging this yets you the answer.

We're told there is a thing shaped like a CD (though the hole might be offcentre) suspended on a rod which goes through the hole. Then it says 'Show the period of small oscillations is...' What the hell? With no information about anything? Screw you…

Have people already notified UCAS of adding STEP 2 and 3 to the exams to be taken, is this required?
I didn't last year, and I very much doubt it'll be different this year.

Re: How did they get from one step to the other?
It's the product rule 'in reverse'. e^{x}\frac{dy}{dx}  e^{x}y = e^{x}\frac{dy}{dx} + y\frac{d}{dx}(e^{x})

Re: Billy's (modestly sized) fourth term "help!" thread
I'm not sure what you mean by h_i and h_j...?
My problem is the usual definition of linear, which is that f is linear if f(ax + by) = af(x) + bf(y). I don't see how this extends to any obvious definition of 'quadratic'. Take my lecturer's example: l…

I thought that too but I ended up getting 7/10 on the BMO2 geometry question in 2008, and I've solved IMO level geometry questions before. Once you've done a few you'll see that they're all very similar. Geometry is nice because there aren't actually…
