Dumped immediatly.

No way would i stay with someone who had caused pain in someone elses life.

My view is very biased because i am a victim of one of the things on your list.

If the police didn't know i would contact them also.

What a bitch.

You wouldn't think that if you'd been through what i'd been through.

How would you deal with the following situations if your partner's... distasteful past was revealed to you? Would you dump them straight away? Tell the police? Stay with them through fear? Stay with them through love? Should the past remain the past, or should past crimes always be punished?

The scenario: you find out, either because they tell you or through other means that:

Your boyfriend/girlfriend...

...has killed someone in the past
...has mugged someone in the past
...has raped someone in the past
...has molested a child in the past
...has used child porn in the past
...has committed an act of bestiality in the past
...has committed an act of necrophilia in the past
...has seriously injured another person intentionally
...has committed an act of incest in the past
...actually keeps a real human skeleton in their closet

I think I could actually forgive most of those (in time), provided that they hadn't given me any reason to think that they'd do that sort of thing again. The thing is, I've been with my other half for a very long time, so if it suddenly transpired that he'd done something awful before I ever met him, I'd like to think that the 6-7 (crime-free) years that I've known him would be proof enough that he'd changed.

*shrugs*

Would be a very different story if it was someone I didn't know so well, though.

Why was this post 'warned'?

Because I'm a bad boy who abuses the anonymous system. :p:

1) Depends. Was it murder? Self defence? Military Service? If it -was- a crime, have they served their punishment?

2) Again, depends on their view. Were they caught and/or punished? Are they sorry? Would probably be off with them for a while.

3) Dumped, I'm pretty sure.

4) Dumped.

5) Nope. Internet's an odd place, and I'd stick by them. After all, they have a relationship now!

6) Nope. If they still were/wanted to, dumped.

7) Dumped.

8) It would depend on the circumstances, probably not.

9) Circumstances, timespan, probably nope.

10) Again, circumstances.

Dump him? **** that, he might kill me. I'd RUN and disappear.
I wouldn't just dump her, I'd dump her in the nearest river.

I bet theres a lot of confused folk from Norfolk scratching their heads at the incest one.

Joke. Don't pitchfork me.
Most would depend, but of course for a few, i.e. raping/molesting people, I can't see any possible circumstance in which I would think that as excusable/forgivable.
It would be entirely circumstantial for me.
...has killed someone in the past - Talk to my mum about it
...has mugged someone in the past - Stay
...has raped someone in the past - Talk to my mum about it
...has molested a child in the past - Nononononononono
...has used child porn in the past - Talk to my mum about it, probz Noonononnonno
...has committed an act of bestiality in the past - Stay
...has committed an act of necrophilia in the past - Probably stay
...has seriously injured another person intentionally - Talk to my mum about it, probably stay
...has committed an act of incest in the past - Stay probz
...actually keeps a real human skeleton in their closet - odd. Possibly stay?

I would hope so; most of it is illegal.
If it was one of the sexual deviancies on the list, I'd dump them. If it was one of the other crimes, it probably wouldn't bother me. I've had mates and colleagues that have mugged people, committed GBH, sold drugs, used weapons and things of that nature and I get on well with them!
