Casio 991es & Sigma Notation help, please.

I dont know how to use latex and i've only got a min so sorry about the formatting.

a_1=3
a_(n+1)=3a_n-5

that defines my series.

Then I have
5
Sigma (3(a_n)-5)
x=1

[br]a1=3[br][br]a_1=3[br]
[br]an+1=3an5[br][br]a_{n+1}=3an-5[br]
When inputting this into the calculator, is there any way to specify the starting value? ie a1a_1?

What are you trying to calculate? If you have the series with starting value 3 where an+1=3an5a_{n+1}=3a_n-5 then you can just put 3 into your calculator and use the Ans key in place of ana_n to find an+1a_{n+1}.

Its the sum of the series that I need to calulate. It was todays exam. But either way, it would be nice to know. Its just how to set the starting value of 3 instead of 1 :smile:
