Permanently blocked nose - HELP!!!

So, for as long as I can remember now (i.e. many years) I have had this problem. 99.999% of the time, I always have a single blocked nostril. Sometimes I have both nostrils completely blocked. The blockage alternates between the two nostrils.

In the extreme rare occasion when both nostrils are completely unblocked - it feels absolutely amazing!

This problem is NOT due to cold, illness...I do not think I have any allergies, I have decent health...the blockage is not caused by mucus I'm pretty sure. I looked on the interent and it could be deviated septum or polyps.

Can someone please tell me what to do?? it is really annoying, frustrating and uncomfortable. At night I alwasy have to breathe through my mouth, and I generally breathe heavily. Do I need surgery? who should I see?

Stop drinking milk - drink goats milk instead. It's worth a try, and works for many cases where people have constantly blocked noses/colds.
and i've been experiencing this for a while now too :p:
my friend had a deviated septum, and recently had surgery on it. aparantly it now feels amazing
just go talk to your gp

erm...I dunno where you got that from, but I love milk and I can't just stop drinking it! weird though, I'll look into it...

It's just soo fkn annoying, living life like this. It even affects my speech occasionally, like when you try to talk while squeezing your nose with your fingers.

Should I see a specialist maybe?

I have this and like in a previous reply I also drink a lot of milk and its been annoying me but I can't see how the milk would affect it? My friend has the same thing but it turned out to be slowly developing sinusitus but could just be his case.

I have it too! I'm lactose intolerant and never have milk, and it has eased up a little...

I have permanently pulled face muscles from biting my lip to keep my mouth open lol!

EDIT!

Hello Thomas

Milk is essential for me as I'm trying to bulk...plus it has good calcium.
I'm not a girl btw
interesting to see other people with this condition. If you have it like I do you will understand how frustrating it is!!
Put your head/nose over boiling water and your nose will get runny = unblocked. No need to thank me, darlingz, you're welcome :h:

OK, I just made that up, but it sounds like it could work :ninja:

I kept getting cold symptoms- blocked nose- and i was told it was because i needed to clear my sinuses or something. Try the head over the bowl of vick and inhaling the steam trick.

No no no, this has NOTHING to do with mucus, im nearly 100% sure. This is a permanent problem. if I blow my nose right no, nothing will come out.

It sounds like the allergy I have, perennial rhinitis (i.e. all year round inflammation of the nasal passages :shifty: ). There's nothing that can be done about it and it's not really harmful in any way, so I wouldn't bother going to the GP.

I thought I was the only one with this! Good to know I'm not the only nasally challenged person out there. :woo:

Yes, it is to do with mucus, unless you were particularly bad for shoving crayons up your nose as a child.
