I don't like the header/banner at the top, it looks out of place and resembles one of those irritated flash scripted adverts. The layout lacks any structure or organization; how about using content dividers or boxes? I would ditch the forum until you get more traffic. Otherwise the design is okay-ish.

This is the current design I've been working on over the last few days. Only two review links work - (30 Days of Night and 9 Songs) - but I'm going to get them all up over the coming week.

What do you make of the design? Good? Bad? I tried to make it as accessible as possible and spent a while optimising it for all operating systems and browsers as best possible.

Thanks!

I've merged this with the ultimate "What do you think of my website" thread.
New design I'm currently working on - feedback please

Here's my site:

http://www.rubiksguide.com/

what do you think of layout/presentation etc? and what i've written? are there bits which could be better written etc?
if people are holding back from looking at my site because they know nothing about rubik's cubes, please stop it!

i'd really appreciate it if anyone looked at my site and gave me some advice on the paragraphing/text layout, the colours i've used (in titles and text) etc. i'm really struggling to get the colours right in particular. i'm trying to colour bits of the text/titles/links, just to make the site a bit more friendly and easy to read...but i can't seem to get the right colours.

i'm also wodering about backgrounds...so there's quite a lot you could advise me on even if you don't have a clue about rubik's cubes

I see you're going for a simple look. That's fine.

1) I don't like the multi-coloured title.
2) Header should be bigger.
3) A little more space between the text and header.
4) Find better images for the Rubik cube on both the home page and on the guide page.
5) Get rid of the Yellow on the guide page. It's ugly.
6) Make the links (guide page) HUGE and space them out neatly on the guide page.

thanks for the advice
i've managed to get rid of the yellow, and i'm going to do the other things you suggested

what colour would you recommend for the title, instead of multi-coloured?
also, have you seen any decent rubik's pictures i could use?

have you seen this page?: http://www.rubiksguide.com/standardcubenotation/

it's one of my biggest concerns..do you any ideas about how i could improve it? i can see that it's crap...i just can't see what to do wtih it

This website I am posting was not designed by me, my friend owns a pub and he wanted a website, he is a control freak so insisted on designing everything himself, I just put it together and copied it from his photoshop design!

I think it is pretty nasty looking in its current state, but I am not too sure how we can make it more eye pleasing, any ideas guys and girls? Would be very much appreciated!

High resolution images used as thumbnails? You're wasting bandwidth.

It just strikes as the typical SEO snake oil anyone with any sense avoids?

Seen pretty good reviews here, my site needs some of those!

Here is an attempt of a Twitter application that I have, its still a bit buggy but working on fixes. Would appreciate a review on the site in general and ease of use.

Yes, I couldn't help myself, had to jump on the already packed Twitter bandwagon. :yep:

Thanks

Just launched my newest site:

Have you ever wondered where you money goes once you spend it? Here's your chance to find out.

On Where's Lizzie you can register any banknotes you have and write a link to this website on them. When somebody finds one of your notes they can come here and let you know where they found it. This allows you to see where you money travels once you've spent it.

I'd appreciate some feedback please
just a simple blog page designed with a template.

It's not a work of art, but I'd be very grateful if people were to comment on the site posts themselves (forms are under each post)

Please cloak your outbound links
I did some of the coding work on this website, do a heck of a lot more of content work instead.

Having the age old trouble of struggling to get a regular traffic stream. Any tips, aside from advertising, which I feel is relatively useless anyway?
oh and edit to the above. Again it's just a simple template, but I think the new format is much better suited: http://thefzine.com

My opinion:

Although it is a simple template, it feel it's maybe a little bit too simple/basic. Just something like a couple of images or even just a gradient background could make it look a bit more interesting, instead of simple black on white.

Also not a fan of the font you're using. Although that's entirely a personal thing, but I prefer Calibri or Trebuchet MS.

Erm, not much else to say really. Maybe more consistency in link colours would be good, eg: You have some links as black, some as light blue, others as red, the twitter thing as green.

Edit: Oh yeah, this is my main website if anyone wants to review it :P -> Nyxre

Cheers, yeah I'll try and get some uniformity with links etc, see if I can sort out the Twitter page aswell. Not really sure if I can alter it, it seems to be a non-flexible widget from the original twitter site.
