i just posted this in another thread, it might be of use to you
from the interviews i have had (4 different ones), i went in with a few memorised answers of why i wanted to be a nurse, what i hoped to achieve in the long run (do you want to specialise etc?), why that particular uni, why the field you've applied for (child/adult/mental health), what qualities a nurse should have. some uni's asked some and not others, but they were all covered at some point. one uni also told me to read up on the royal college or nursing and the nursing and midwifery council, i didnt actually need this int he end, but it might be worth looking into (i just memorised what they're about and what they do)
some of the answers i had, altho personal to me, but as examples...
my reasons for wanting to be a nurse, i've got a lifelong health problem, and i've had help and met with so many different health care professionals, and they've influenced me etc (plus more reasons, but obviously they're reasons why *i* wanna be a nurse, so no point going into more detail). i said i chose adult nursing cos it gives me more options in the future (because i want to specialise after a few years experience). as for qualities a nurse should have, i said highly professional, excellent communication and listening skills, emotional stability, confident, active/cheerful/relaxed/flexible, a nurse positive presence will make a patients time at hospital a bit more of a pleasant experience. also one uni asked me to talk about something in the news (child obesity, etc and obviously expand as much as you can)
hope this helps, sorry if i rambled, but i spent so long last year researching what questions i'd come across from different uni's it's good i can just sum it up for someone. think about why you wanna be a nurse, and make the answers as personal as possible, it'll show how passionate you are about it, you can never expand too much, they don't like short brief responses. be prepared for them to ask you questions too, one interviewer asked me what i thought my duties as a nurse would be, but it was on the spot and i cant remember what answers i gave sorry
also mention any experience (college work experience etc) you've had, and what your duties were, what you enjoyed, etc
i wrote all the stuff down, and then read over it a few times (in the car journeys on my way to the interviews etc)
