Sorry for the stupidity of this question, but isn't this HP Compaq Mini 311c classed as a Netbook too?

There are some vids on youtube for that which shows people play COD MW2 although in low settings and I've read some people playing sims 3 on that..

Hmm, well yeah, personally I wouldn't want to play any game on such a small screen and low quality.

This is the integrated graphics card in the Tesco link: Graphics Chipset Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 3150
another thing to consider, netbooks dont have optical drives generally
although some of the ultraportable dells may do:holmes:
Ahh thanks both. Will a 13" laptop fare any better or is just go for the 15" laptop?

I won't be playing Sims 3 that often just now and then =/ Not sure really what I want to do to be honnest.

I'd imagine it would be Samsung.

Edit:
It is but expired.

Am thinking of buying this but I'm a bit concerned its only 3gb RAM. Does the DDR3 memory give similar performance to 4gb DDR2?

Is there anything else at a similar price I should be looking at?
It doesn't matter abut the upgrade to Win 7. I think my bro has a CD so I may ask him, if not I'll get a student one from the net somewhere

Depends what you're going to be using it for really.

If you're going to be using light resource programs like Office, iTunes, Firefox then no, but if you were doing more resource hogging programs like Maya (3D Modelling) or video editing then that would be a different question.

hmm, it would need to be able to run 3D CAD software like solidworks... maybe better to go for the 3GB DDR3 and newer processor.

i would say it is fine, unless you play heavy games
they could always replace the 1GB stick if necessary in the future

Dell Studio might be better then, better graphics card and the full 4GB DDR3 RAM.
