Of course you can. That's why offers are conditional; you accept the offer and then you get in when you've met the conditions (you have until 31st August to meet them usually).
eeep! i have an informal offer from nottingham! it's for a slightly different degree to the one i applied for, but one i would still be interested in nontheless, they are giving me further consideration for my original choice after i send them some work from my access course, but looks like i definitely have an offer either way.

annnd i have an interview at university of manchester tomorrow!

quite chuffed, nottingham and manchester we my ambitious choices, and i wasn't expecting much from them.

Hey, what did you hate about your first time at uni? I picked a course entirely wrong for me, I knew that at the start but it was my dream, I just needed to realise that my dream wasn't possible unless I completely changed who I was.

I hated my course, I hated my flatmates, I loved the location but hated the actual uni itself, it was too far away from home (something I didn't think I'd be bothered about, but...)

I've got a good feeling about Keele

This thread has really gone quiet! I've firmed Westminster and hopefully will be moving into London in September!

I'm really, really excited but not sure how many other mature students will be on the course...or at Westminster at all!
 I'm 22 and from Leeds, not very "mature" for a mature student.

I have applied to:
Leeds- German and IR
Leeds- German
Leeds Met- German and IR
Leeds Met- German and Global development
Leeds Met- German and Peace studies

As you can see I want to stay in Leeds!

I'm very lucky because I got unconditional offers from all Unis (except for the German and peace studies which got cancelled) :eek3: .:woo: :woo: I was completely shocked because I wasn't expecting anything from Leeds-:eek3: it's given me masses of confidence! I'm absolutly over the moon and can't wait:woo:
Hello,
I'm wondering if anybody could help please. I'm going for a group interview for the person centred counselling degree today and I'm so nervous as I have no clue what to expect. This is my first time applying for a university course so it's a real big deal to me. Also I've not studied for a year and what if I don't remember anything I've learnt! So could somebody please tell me what a group interview consists of?

thank you

I know how you feel! I got three unconditional offers out of my uni applications and I've been on top of the world since (especially since I never thought Cardiff would give me an offer in a million years!).

It really gives you a huge confidence boost when you realise you really can do it!

Hi,

Name is Jason and im applying to st marys univeristy college to study in september 2011 for a foundation degree in sports, health and fitness ( with an additional year for a full BSC Degree in sports science)

I was in university two years ago studying web design + development, a subject that I have enjoyed but i didn't want a job where im sitting in front of a computer for 8 hours a day.

Therefore i decided to become a personal trainer, I begin studies for my personal training certification this november, get more work experience (currently working in a sports centre so i hope that helps) and by September 2011 i should be in university
I am 20 atm so just started to be 'mature student' and ig I dont get in then next year after completing 2 more A Levels ! then I will be 21. I have a bit controversial question and it really bothers me, how mature students are seen by other fairly young sometimes comparing kids straight from sixth form ? Because I really hope after these hard years in my college, university is going to change my life for better !

Hello,
I am Michaela, 34, and I applied to: Kent, UEL, Roehampton and Brunel for Anthropology and got two unconditional offers from UEL and Brunel, a conditional from Roehampton and Kent didn't want me at all.. I made Brunel to my firm choice:woo: :woo:
Cheers,
Michaela

You have nothing to worry about, you won't be discriminated.

36 here, notified today that I was unsuccessful in all 3 of my choices this year. I'm a little disappointed but I was never that confident to begin with as I submitted a very late application, in May.

I didn't get any specific reason on track but I presume it may have been a combination of things so I have emailled the university to see what they can advise.

Now I'm not sure what to do, I doubt the courses will be available in clearing and I'm not in a position to be able to move from Northern Ireland anyway.

I have a suspicion that because I have no recent study has not helped but not sure what to do about that. I've looked into some Access courses, some are 2 years and some not and I would prefer fast tracking in a year part time if possible but the college websites are woeful for Northern Ireland and I'm getting a bit discouraged that Access information seems to be fairly poor, I checked into OU also but I'm also just after being made redundant and I don't have 650.00 to spend on a module there.
I'd thoroughly recommend an access course, many Uni's & colleges have various help available, Plus if you dont have A-levels (or level3 qualification) then you can get the fee's paid for you.

Have a look around at accesses in your area - Some are 'general' but there are specific ones out there (such as access to nursing) - I'm doing a specialised Access to art and design course, it has been hard work but amazing for training you for uni.

EDIT: If there is nothing near you perhaps look at access courses within universities (I'm at TVU in Reading) as some have student accomodation available- a couple of people in my course are in halls & there may be help available for costs, if you were relocating for Uni it might be worth looking into

I would investigate financial support options with OU. Being made redundant could help with getting your fees paid for you.

Ahhh my thread is a sticky! I haven't been on here for a while, but only 3.5 months to go and I'm currently doing all the paperwork I have to do as I'm doing a health course! The good thing is that my SLTA job is great and it's confirmed how much I really want to go and do speech therapy at uni so I'm really excited about going and getting qualified!

keep up the faith:
I was over 40 when I applied late June-

was given entry to Yr 2due to experience and professional qualifications - but after a few weeks moved to year3.. final results out ... FIRST CLASS...

we mature students can have a lot to offer, but need to adapt to the workload/ methods required and try and mix a little with the younger students .
Hi guys hope this is the right place to post this!

I'm a mature student from Ireland looking to apply for the Graphic Design course in Edinburgh Napier. I won't actually be applying until 2011 but wanted to make sure I had all the info in plenty of time.

I've some previous work experience in a graphic design company and have a small portfolio of design work built up.

What I wanted to know is, has anyone applied for this course? I read in the prospectus that at the interview they want to see design work but also drawings and creative thinking. I havent done art in school and cant draw to save my life! Im just a little worried that this will effect any attempt to entry.

I'm currently attending a portfolio preperation class but due to my lack of talent with drawing I feel Im struggling with it. Can the work experience and graphic design portfolio be enough to get past the interview?
