Alexandra Works :)

So, after not wanting it and emailing them and discovering i cant change it, i've accepted a place here. Room 102C in a 5 bedroom flat.

Apparently its only 10 minute walk from campus.
And close to a "good" area called Mutley? Which is "very popular, most students use it for the banks, shops , takeaways and nightlife" ? although i have no clue about this. .
And its ALL first years, which is good i suppose.
So.. sounds better than i first thought?

Anyone who is also going here.. post here.
And anyone that has experience of this.. post here ;D
Thanksss.

ALSO. If anyone has any info On Mutley, like.. whether it is actually as good as they say it is, or whether it isnt.. then let me know

I'm room 503E in a 6 b/room flat! Bit unsure about it atm tbh; seems nice enough, but don't really know a great deal about the surrounding area etc! :P

They are basically halls.. just ran by a different company, not the university.
No idea about the furniture and stuff, pictures of any of the accommodation are crap, have to wait and see

I'd wish the same mate, but unless were lucky enough to find someone here whos lived in AW before.. and took pictures.. we wont be able to see anymore :frown:
But liek i said below.. not gonna be spending too much time in room in first year anyway. Gonna be out every/most nights, and most days in lectures.. socialising.. making friends etc. So i wouldnt worry about it too much.

Same about mary newman, but im not too bothered.
Atleast here it will be all first years and stuff
and about the room.. the pictures dont really show much about It and dont represent it all so i wouldnt worry about that too much.. plus i've heard they have great showers
and lets face it.. i aint gonna be spending much time in my room in the first year anyway.

I had emailed the accommodation team about it.. just taking a chance.. but you cant change it (and i knew i wouldnt be able to), seem as only 60% of first years get offered a place.. i'd just accept it or quickly start finding private rooms.

You guys know the main road that runs from Drake Circus past the uni (unis on the left driving along). Well Mutley's right at the end of that road and it's basically a residential area; i don't think it's too bad but don't expect South Kensington. That road is basically lined with pubs and clubs though all the way to the uni and the city centre. When i was in Plymouth i walked along the road from Drake Circus to Mutley and it was absolutely packed with students; so if you want like a 5 minute walk home from a night out your not too far away from clubs and pubs. I didn't actually see those particular halls; don't think i saw any halls but the area they're in doesn't seem too bad.

Anyway, i might be joining you guys depending on thursday; i'll be studying Marine Biology if i end up at Plymouth Uni
Mutley is a great area, however if youre going out drinking there, Mutley Crown is a no go, its where a lot of lowlifes go, to give you an idea of theoretically unsafe it is, when a fight breaks out and the police are called, the cops will turn up with at least 3 car units and a van. other than that one blight mutley is fine  Dominos, Co-op, Pizza Hut Delivery, KFC, Goodbody's (like milkshakes? this place does 3 pint milkshakes during the day and they're open until about 5am in the morning as well, good place to get a snack after a gig, or after youve been out drinking  ), The Junction (a rock and metal live venue, most nights will have a gig on), The Fortesque (this is THE Real Ale pub in plymouth, its a must if you prefer Ale over the pressurised crap you get everywhere else), A Wetherspoons, Couple of takeaways, and more (if youre a guitarist and willing to venture down to the end of mutley plain, theres an awesome guitar shop as well)
im in room 001A, im so excited. i was a bit annoyed i didnt get into halls, but after i thought about it abit i figured its pretty much like halls anyway...

oh and good luck for today everyone
Helllo  I'm in room 210B which is a 5 bedroom flat, i really wanted to be on campus too but having said that 'Alexandra works' (lol) doesn't look that bad!
I'm going to study biomedical sciences.. what's everyone else doing?? Roisin, x x x
Mutley is ok, nothing special. It's just a strip with a few regular shops and a couple of pubs. North Hill and Union Street will have a better nightlife in my opinion.
