Calling all postgrads who like to socialise!

Hey!

Are there any postgrads out there looking to socialise?

I'm about to start a MSc at Bristol Uni and as I already live in Bristol (Originally from up north but moved down to Bristol last year) I won't be able to meet any fellow grads through living in halls!

If there is anyone else in this kind of situation (or not!) who would like to check out freshers week and have a few drinks then please let me know! I'm very sociable and don't want to miss out on the freshers shennanigans cos I don't know anyone! And I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way!

PS The offer is open to Bristol Uni and UWE Grads, the more the merrier!

Anyway... seeing as you already live in the area, surely you should already know some people or, if you were interested in socialising, surely it would have been sensible to move into private student accommodation as a way of getting to know new people? :confused:

Anyway, I checked your post history and it seems that we have some things in common. Originally, I went to MMU to do (a foundation year in) computer games technology, and lived in Cambridge Halls, but realised once I finished the year that I did not much like living in Manchester nor the idea of studying computing for three years. Thankfully, the university let me change subject since I had passed the foundation year so I switched campus and studied English at MMU Cheshire (in Crewe).

Personally, I am not too concerned about missing out on 'freshers shennanigans' for a number of different reasons so I am not too sure how useful I am to you in the short term! In fact, I moved to Bristol on Sunday and I am the only person in my accommodation at the moment and, truth be told, I am enjoying the peace and quiet! But it is nice to see not only a female computing student, but also one from MMU too!

Oh evantej, we do not have that much in common! I would have loved to have lived in cambridge halls! And I LOVE Manchester, it would have killed me to have been in Crewe?! for my uni years!

Yes you are correct, I have a large social group in Bristol but they are all graduates working full time, I have enlisted some of them to accompany me on freshers week but I'm not sure if they'll be able to get into the Union etc...?!

I posted on here as I know that there may be people out there who do not currently live in Bristol, are not living in halls, but would like to make friends! Although I already know people in Bristol I'm always up for meeting new people and widening my social circle!

Cambridge Halls were fun, and I like Manchester in general, but I just found it hard to get used to living in such a big industrial city, coming from a small rural village in Northumberland. I could easily live there now, for instance. Crewe was not great, but it was not that bad to be honest.

With regards to your graduate friends, I cannot see why they would not be allowed to go into the union, seeing as most universities tend to run events specifically for graduates (Old Boys at MMU, for instance).

I see evantej, yes it would be a big upheaval! Exciting though I would think? I miss Manchester dreadfully but Bristol has a great nightlife and so many different areas, you can always find a different night out! Not used to the prices down here yet tho :s

Oh that is good news about grads probably being allowed on student events. Though I'd like to meet some new friends too!

Hey!! that sounds good, I'll be a postgrad in Bristol from October (I'll arrive at the end of september) so it'll be cool to meet for drinks and meet other postgrads, especially since I'll be surrounded by undergrads!
