This will sound a bit of a strange question...but I was wondering if people who are put on the PgDip Speech & Language Therapy course are likely to get a place sooner or later?

Do wait listed people usually have a good shot at getting it?

Thanks

Hi Rachel,

I've accepted an offer to do this course starting end of august and I was offered my place in early December 2010 - for this course an element of first-come-first-served is operated where if you apply early on and they like the look of you, they're likely to offer you a place. However, the price you pay for this is that you have 3 weeks to accept the offer - for me this meant I had to accept by 17th December, a month before even my first interview elsewhere, so I had no idea if I would get a NHS-funded place or whether I would end up going to QMU and self-funding. In the end I didn't get a place elsewhere so I'll be going to QMU.

The upside of this for people on the waiting list is that many people who have accepted a place will drop out later down the line if they're offered a funded place at another university, and people can be waiting into May to hear about other places. Therefore I'd say that if you're on the waiting list it's not inconceivable that you may be offered a place, however I don't know how long the waiting list is and it obviously depends what position you hold on it.

Hope that helps if you've not already found the answer to your question!

:wavey: I've just finished my second year of Public Relations and Media at QMU and I'm really loving it. It's really good - we've had practical experience as well as also learning a lot of theory etc. If you have any specific questions feel free to PM me or ask on here

Hi I was wondering if anyone here has studied Human Biology or Nutrition?

Are the lecturers good? Are the lesson organised? Is there alot of practicle work? Do these courses have good graduate prospects?

Thank you.

Hey, Im transferring to QMU for second year in a media course.

I was wondering if anyone knew which is best to go into halls, or try share a flat with other students.. Ive some friends in Edinburgh, living in the city, but id prefer to meet new people aswell, I also would like to know if anyone knows if living in the city or near the uni itself is better, mostly for fun?.. I dont mind travelling as the train is only 5 mins away..

Cheers...

Basically i want to plan things just incase I don't get my firm choice.

Firm:Applied Biomedical Science at RGU
Insurance: Human Biology at Queen Margaret, Edinburgh

If i don't get my firm choice I don't know whether I should go to QMU or Aberdeen College to study Applied Sciences, which if i complete the HND i would get direct entry into 3rd year of Bioscience with Biomedical Science at RGU.

I prefer the modules at QMU to the modules in the HND, and I would really like to have the experience of a 1st year university student.

Basically my question is: Is a degree from RGU better than QMU and if so should I go to college for two years to get into RGU?

I got an email from QMU saying they were withdrawing my course (Marketing Management) but would like to offer me a place on the Business Management course. I filled in the UCAS form and replied accepting that I'd like to change the UCAS application to the Business Management course yet my UCAS application hasn't updated yet and RGU never replied to my email. I've no idea what the offer is and I've no idea if they received my email. Think I'll phone them tomorrow, is anyone else in the same boat?

EDIT: They have now sent me an email apologizing for the delay

I do! I go to QMUC obviously, and its was the first university to offer dietetics in the country...i think its the best, but obviously it depends what you want out of a uni. I have no problem with the scots and been english, and i'm proper english, yorkshire accent and all! If you do come to QMUC let me know, the lecturers are brilliant, and we're getting a new specialist dietetics lecturer from september! The course has a great reputation all over the country, nearly every dietitian has heard of it, and are very fond of QMUC graduates. I don't know much about the other uni's, but i have had no problems on my course while i have been studying at QMUC.

Hi, just wondering is the chemistry content on the dietetics course extensive....thinking of applying here for september!...thank you!!
