medicine in bulgaria

Hi,

Is anyone studying medicine in bulgaria? I have been accepted into a bulgarian university and just wanted to see if anyone here is studying there or will be.

I know that bulgaria is within the eu, so I should be able to practice within the uk.

The course that I will be starting is an english speaking course. I am not sure if I should go for this opportunity or not.

Any help would be appreciated.

I can give more info on the specific university if required.

Are you a British Citizen? Take it your studying there due to cheaper fees and lower requirements? Well you should be able to practice in the United Kingdom, and if you want study medicine and this is your opportunity then go for it!

Could you give me a link to the University's website? That sounds pretty interesting.
Thanks!

Here is the link to the university. It is pleven university.

As Bulgaria is in the EU then gaining GMC is not an issue provided you graduate.

Also, if anyone wants to apply there, I just contacted the uk representative. Classes start in february in english and finish in december. There is still time to apply if you want to go there.

Was not that diificult to get a place. If you have excellent grades, should not be that hard.

Not sure about funding or some sort of loan from the uk. Do you know of any?

Are you thinking of applying here? Have you tried the uk or have you been rejected here already.
hey hows it goin! im from uk too and have got an offer to study medicine at pleven. have u spoken to anyone that actually goes there? it seems cool but im still a bit anxious about it

Hey,

No, I have not. Was pleven uni your only offer and do you start in February?

I decided not to go to pleven. Cannot afford the fees. How are you paying for it?

Yeah I only applied to pleven because i wanted to start in February and not lose the whole year. And ah no worries -but i did think it was the most reasonable tuition fees out of the foreign courses that i found?

My parents are gonna support me in terms of the funding and i'll probably get a job as well lol

Whats your plan now then?

not sure. Wish the tuition fees were cheaper though. Seems too expensive. Maybe do pharmacy instead.
Best of luck with whatever you decide to do

Hi guys  I'm from Bulgaria. Probably a bit late to see this thread but if you've got any questions do not hesitate to ask me  I want to study medicine as well(in fact I'm preparing for the exams - it's quite hard for Bulgarians to get in  ) So as I said, don't hesitate to ask me  Good luck

Yes. Bulgaria is an EEA country so if you qualify from Bulgaria then there is no need to take the PLAB.

My cousin had an offer last year but secured a place in the UK so this (Pleven) was her insurance.

Thanks for the information. Does anyone know if studying in Bulgaria is more challenging than in the UK in terms of workload etc. ?

hey guys  congratulations on you offers  The bulgarian medical education is probably on of the best in the country. The system is a little bit different to other countries. The major exams are held two times in the whole year - around Jan and around May. Meanwhile you've got various tests and practical exams held during the year. I see that most of you are accepted to MU Pleven. This is probably the university with one of the best educational facilities. The town is not very big. The population is around 120 000 people. If you've got any questions don't hesitate to ask
