Just got home from my recall audition.
It was for acting not dancing, so I was a little bit disapointed as I always thought of myself as more a dancer than an actor but they obviously didnt think so!
Maybe its the luck of the draw?
Anyway, as a previous poster has said, we were split into 5 groups of 50, there were mostly women there and a few men.
Once again we had routines shown us and we had to perform them, all 50 of us together or just a line of us, or in groups of 10 or so, so noone has to do anything on their own, its all group orientated.
some bits were similar to the first audition but some were a bit more complicated.
But there is absolutely nothing to worry about, its all very lighthearted and fun.
I have no idea what they are looking for or what they want people to do in the end but if I dont get any further it will be an experience I will never forget.
The audition only lasted 2 hours, but I did hear that one of the dance auditions lasted 4 hours.
As I say maybe its the luck or bad luck of the draw.
Good luck everyone, have fun, its a once in a lifetime opportunity, enjoy!

Its natural to be nervous, but in my opinion there is no need to worry about it.
Just enjoy the experience and go with the flow.
Who knows what they are looking for, so just be yourself and enjoy it.

This evening. As with everyone else, I have no idea what role this is for. I like the sound of walking out with the athletes - no dance moves to remember!

Looking forward to it as the first one was fun :colondollar:

Had the recall on Wednesday evening and it was for acting. It looks like they are running 3 sessions a day of recalls until start of Dec. Session had 250 people in it.

Just my personal opinion but it was way more complex than the initial audition. I'm not really sure how I did but given that we have no idea what is being looked for it is hard to tell. Lots of other people I talked to found it a lot tougher also. BUT, it remained a good experience, enjoyable and fun. It was all finished within 2 1/2 hours.

I would love it if they could accelerate the time it takes to inform us. I'm not feeling entirely confident that I've made it through but I would like to know one way or the other.

Good luck to all those who are yet to do their 2nd audition!

Sounds pretty much the same as my 2nd audition. I have to agree with you about not feeling confident, and I wish we could know sooner if we are through or not, but maybe they want to see everyone first before making their decisions. Its hard to know what they are looking for with the stuff we had to 'perform', and I overheard some of the people with clipboards saying, 'its difficult', whatever that means!
By the way , last night, one of Danny boyles 'guys' was there, he is the performance person who did War Horse, 39 steps etc, but unfortunately I cant remember his name!
Being part of this even if I dont get through, makes me feel that I am part of something amazing and extraordinary, and I really hope I get through but I am not confident.
Good luck to everyone and please let us know how you get on.

p.s. In my opinion, I think the stuff we had to do was all about seeing if we could take instruction!
If we could follow instructions and perform them as asked.
there were some people in my group that were obviously not listening and our instructor had to repeat himself several times to some members of the group.
After completing both the initial and recall auditions and having had time to think about it - here are my thoughts (for what they are worth).

I think the vast majority of those auditioning will get through as they need 10000 bodies to make the patterns (olympic rings etc) or perform TOGETHER.

So all they are looking for are people who can follow intruction, are reasonably fit, can move together, and know their right from their left etc. We are volunteers not trained athletes, dancers or jugglers etc. So there is no need to feel worried. There will be no individual glory but ensemble work taken to a whole new level. 1000's of people moving en masse.

Also I think they will over subscribe people going through as a % will drop out of the process. I had 2 emails and a text message reminding me of the recall - so I think a % are not making the recalls. Plus, when people see the huge commitment required with rehearsals there will be more drop outs!

I enjoyed the experience anyway, but I think you would have to "mess up" badly or be totally unfit not to go through IMO.

Best wishes to everyone!

Hey guys

I got a recall on Nov 27th at 9.30, it just says 'role specific' so it could be anything, however I'm pretty certain mine will be dance as that's what I do

Mine is on Nov 27th in the afternoon - I applied as a drummer though! I reckon some of the other posters are right, they're leaving specialist skills to the end.

At the end we were told we would be emailed if we were through in 6-8 weeks and if successful what group we would be in A B C etc and details of times and dates of rehearsals for that group. Only the creatives would know what the group codes meant! At that stage you can decided if you can commit the time necessary to these rehearsal dates.

Do you remember what the rehearsal dates were? I have a letter G on my recall invitation (drumming skills perhaps?). Bit nervous that the rehearsals will start before I'm back from holiday, in mid April 2012!

Don't really want to have to choose between meeting my boyfriends parents for the first time, or performing in the Olympics! Any suggestions anybody?

They apparently start in March. I would wait until you know for sure and then ask if that would be alright to miss a few rehearsals...

They told us last night then if we were successful we would recieve the rehearsal dates with the confirmation email, so we can decide wether or not we are able or want to commit.
I found this on the internet , so its available to all, its information for ceremony volunteer workers (not performers) it gives a brief outline of dates etc might be useful, I have copied and pasted so hope it works!

Available Roles for Ceremonies Volunteers
Below are descriptions of the many roles available to volunteers for participation in the Opening and Closing
Ceremonies of both the Olympic and Paralympic Games. With each description is an indication of the time period for
which we will need volunteers for both pre-production and show.
Within these periods are compulsory dates (i.e. inductions, training, rehearsals and performances) that volunteers
will need to be available if they want to participate in the actual Ceremony performances. While volunteers may not
be asked to attend all of the dates listed, please understand the importance of being flexible and the commitment
required for successful Ceremony performances.
Key dates currently include:
24th March: Induction & Training for volunteers involved in pre-production rehearsals
12th May: Induction & Training for all Ceremony participating volunteers in the 1:1 venue
15th May 17th June: Evening and weekend rehearsals at the 1:1 for Opening Ceremony
16th June: Induction & Training for the move to the Stadium
19th June 13th July: Evening and weekend rehearsals at the Stadium for Opening Ceremony
14th & 15th July: Transitions Rehearsal (All)
18th July 21st July: Run thrus by section
21st July: Dress Rehearsal 1 (All)
23rd July: Dress Rehearsal 2 (All)
25th July: Dress Rehearsal 3 (All)
27th July: OLYMPIC OPENING CEREMONY (ALL)
29th July 8th August: Rehearsals for Closing Ceremony at 1:1 Venue
7th August: Dress Rehearsal 1 (All) TBC
10th August: Dress Rehearsal 2 (All) TBC
12th August: OLYMPIC CLOSING CEREMONY (All)
16th August 24th August: Rehearsals for Opening Paralympic Ceremony at 1:1
25th August: Dress Rehearsal 1 (All) TBC
27th August: Dress Rehearsal 2 (All) TBC
29th August: PARALYMPIC OPENING CEREMONY (All)
31st August 8th September: Rehearsals & Dress TBC
9th September: PARALYMPIC CLOSING CEREMONY (All)
You will likely not be asked to attend all of these dates, but do make certain that you are available for any dates
marked with ALL, while maintaining availability over all others noted until the actual schedule is confirmed.
For all roles starting before the dates noted above, work sessions will be scheduled for volunteers to participate
during the run up to the Ceremonies, particularly in Costuming and Props. Frequency and duration of work sessions
will vary based on the role and will be flexible enough for volunteer participation at most levels of availability and
experience.

Well, they've got to allow for people being sick, right?

Thanks for those dates cinnamon, really interesting!
@ Cinnamon - thanks for the dates.

In light of this news I am going to see if they will also be prepared to tell me for sure (when I go for my 2nd audition this Sunday 20th Nov.) that, if successful, when they think they will be STARTING our rehearsals as performers, i.e. the EARLIEST date they are going to ask us be available for only at this stage - the rest will fall into place after that I think.

I need to juggle my time with work commitments as well as a trip home to Scotland to see my elderly parents before I get tied up in all of this Olympics stuff next year - I am also hoping to be a London Ambassador between the ceremonies dates for Olympics 2012 (not paralympics) and will need to also set time aside for the 3 training sessions I need to attend for that from January onwards. I also play music regularly in a community based band but that can "give" a little commitment wise if I know early enough what other demands there will be on my time between Jan and August 2012. I am not a soloist there so it probably wouldn't be the end of the world if I couldn't make all of the gigs/rehearsals there so I am not unduly concerned about that. They have, after all, had something of a monopoly on my time for the past 24 years or so andm performing in the Olympics like this is, like, a one-time life experience right !!!!

In the circs. I consider is WHOLLY REASONABLE to be asking these questions now, given that I have already set a fair amount of time aside in my busy life to do the 2 auditions in the first place and this is "voluntary" at the end of the day, they're not paying us anything yet after all (& when they do it will only be max. Zone 1 to 6 rehearsal/actual performance expenses anyway) - who agrees with me here?

However, surely if I can offer them am/pm/eves on Wednesday (my usual guaranteed day off although I worked it this week) and Saturday/Sunday plus, at a push the odd Friday now and then (which I usually work as an overtime day rather than a contractual day) they can accommodate my rehearsals and training around that, failing which I would be prepared to take some paid annual leave if need be. We clearly WON'T be expected to attend EVERY rehearsal they hold - just a set number on given days to learn whatever it is they want us to learn to perform for the biggest gig of our lives <LOL> I will not miss out on that opportunity for the world - even if I have to give up work (part-time and out of town - 3 to 4 days a week max. out of the usual 7 dayus available) for a while to fit them in once we get going. Bit drastic I know but hey, in for a penny, in for a pound and all that eh?

All the best to those who have 2nd auditions this weekend in the meantime - maybe get to meet some of you at 3MS, Bow on Sunday (2pm slot I've got). Just had a text reminder from them about it approx. 20 mins. ago so they clearly still want me to attend <LOL>

Or doing the drumming auditions this weekend (Sat./Sun) and next maybe as I've been speaking to a few auditionee drummers via Twitter this week who seem to have 2nd audition slots which match up to this theory, including myself who has her 2nd audition (maybe drumming or acting or dancing - have absolutely no idea what they've expecting from me this time !!!!!! <AAARGGGGHHH>) this Sunday, 20th November so hoping that someone who has done it before me is kind enough to post either on here or on Twitter what they did, even if in briefest of details to confirm how the session time is organised as 4 hours seems a LONG time to be doing just one of the possible activities, don't you agree ????

Not sure as an almost 47-year old overweight female who rarely does any proper exercise let alone "dancing" has enough stamina to last THAT long !!! I will do my best though (& hope that they provide water to drink like they did last time too? !!!!!

My audition is this Sunday (20th) at 2pm. I'm not a musician of any kind so I'd definitely prefer the dancing or even acting  I guess I'll just see on the day!

Under the barcode on the recall email, I have a number, then the letter R on it - does anyone else have an R?? I wonder what it means!
Reply 157
Mine is 2pm Sunday too and my letter is also R. I am really hoping it is for dancing.

Some of the tubes are shut on Sunday so make sure you plan your journey.

My audition was thursday and it was acting, and my number on the recall email had a B on it.
so I guess the letters mean something!

My audition was only 2 hours long even though the email said it would be 4 hours!
And yes they do provide water.
