Get one from one of the suppliers in town when you come up in October - Shepherd and Woodrow (or Woodward?) or Ryder and Amies.

will Jesus tell you what to do in Oct or we have to sort it ourselves? we dont need to buy a measured gown right?

It mentions that for signing the Matriculation list and going to th matriculation dinner that you need to wear a gown.

How much are they generally?

Just asking out of curiosity, and can you actually buy them from the porters lodge or is it better to go to a tailors and buy one?

Think you have to get them from Diagon Alley

One of my friends got a measured gown and it looks ridiculous - everyone else's is way too big for them and his is diddy. So yeah, just go with the standard size :p:
Way too big looks far cooler, anyway. It billows better in the wind.

You'll arrive on a Saturday before midday and there will be someone from the JCSU selling gowns just outside the porter's lodge at a (slightly) discounted price so don't bother getting one from Ryder & Amies
