Ah! Its so good to have a load of people to talk to that are in the same boat. I feel a bit better now!

There were about 30 of us at the rollerskating audition. Most of us were all kind of at the same level. However there were a few who seemed to have exaggerated on their form a bit because they could barely stand upright! Some even left half way through the audition! And on the other end there were 2 or 3 guys who were these amazing jam skaters and could do all sorts of cool things.

The first part of the audition we just did some basic stopping and starting drills to prove we could actually skate. Then we performed a routine with a partner. I was lucky enough to get put with one of the expert guys who showed me how to do the bits I was struggling with! Then at the end they put on some music and we had a massive roller disco that was way fun!

I think I did fairly well? I tired to be overly hyper and smily to make me stand out a bit. Although I must have looked a bit interesting having walked to the audition in the pouring rain!

Wow - roller skating (don't remember them asking for anyone to do that at either of my two auditions) - does this mean there is is some in at least one of the segments of opening/closing ceremony though Quite possible I should think and good luck to those who auditioned that they get through if they want to do this by way of performance on the night - wish I was that talented but, alas, no !
I can't remember if I tried to be hyper and smiley. Eek!

Yeah. At the end of my first audition they were looking people with certain skills. So you had to go to one corner if you were a drummer, another if you could do pointe work etc. I used to be an awesome skater as a kid and have recently started again so I put my name down for skating because I thought it'd give me a better chance seeing as its a 'special skill'. However they said at the audition that even if you didn't get in as a skater they'd try to slot you in somewhere else.

I have no idea what they plan on using the roller skaters for in the ceremonies but it sounds super fun! I keep telling people that I'm in the final stages of becoming a skater for the Olympics making them think I'm actually competing haha

Hey. My dance audition was on the 29th Nov at 6pm. And yeh I am going to be in Segment 63 Group A in the closing ceremony as 'Dance and character role in spectacular ceremony sequence'. Thats the same as u right? The routine was really fast, and hip-hoppy in my audition. There was no splits at the end tho. so maybe we done a different routine...What song was your dance audition too? xx

Hiya, I can't quite remember which track it was the footage on the Ceremonies website where The Director is being interviewed was filmed at my audition and you can see my audition group doing the actual choreo in the background - did you do this routine?

I was in the first row right in the corner - I only appear in the footage twice (blink or you miss it) THANK GOD I didn't feature much in the vid. The beginning of the choreo was straightforward but when it sped up, I was all over the place

Have been following this since the beginning of the auditions. My recall audition was Sat 19th Nov in the morning. Has anybody received any results yet from this recall. We had a solitary guy in this audition if that helps.

My husband has already received his casting offer for the opening ceremony so as you can imagine he is rubbing it in ( just a little) !!

Good luck to all those in the same shoes as me

To all of you who got through for dance roles, do you have previous dance experience?

Mine's dancing with character role at the closing ceremony so a bit baffled. I take it that there's dancing involved in a costume??

I'm from a samba dance background and literally praying that we get to dance some samba or some Latin American choreo (bearing in mind that we'll be handing over to Brazil after all.) I've been dancing samba for over 11 years.

I am also a qualified Exercise Instructor and licensed to teach Zumba classes which I teach on a regular basis.

I'm curious to know whether the Cast Co-Ordinators will refer back to our dance preferences / backgrounds on our application forms in order to determine what each of us will be doing / wearing in our allocated groups or whether they'll disregard it.

Not complaining as I'm thrilled to be part of this and look forward to meeting some of you on this Forum at the rehearsals

Ah really sad now I have watched this. The routine is my kind of thing and I reckon I would have loved this and shone. However I ended up in hip hop for some reason and so struggled against natural hip hop dancers and ended up with a reserve email. Felt fine about the reserve bit until I saw this video. Now gutted and nothing I can do. :frown:

Sorry to hear this. I'm only guessing that they decided the groups for the recalls based on the first audition. Did you do a hip hop routine or choreo during your first audition?

It does make me wonder how they decided which groups we'd end up in at the recall. I don't know about your one but the first audition wasn't filmed, yet the recall was. So, based on that, they only had those with the clipboards who were busy highlighting people's names / numbers for recall.

Did you have a "freestyle" bit in your first audition? I'm guessing that they decided which group we would end up in based on what dance moves we were doing at that audition.

I (and a few others) felt like fishes out of water with this choreo as it wasn't our genre of dance and I'm sure there's plenty of other applicants that were placed in genres out of their league.

Stay positive as I'm sure they'll be choosing several people from the reserve list. Don't forget there's also the Paralympics and I wouldn't be surprised that if the places are full for the Olympics, that the reserves may end up performing at the Paralympic ceremony. That's my prediction any way.

It was just the one girl that did the splits at the end but I reckon she did that to ensure that she stood out in front of the judges. I'm sure she's in because she was very acrobatic in the way she moved during her audition and I'm sure they'll have a similar section somewhere in the ceremony (probably the opening?).

Just watched the video online. Ours wasn't that difficult! Oh dear! That group looks like pro dancers.

Yeh there are plenty of ppl who were put in dance genres which were not for them. I done the dance audition that was in the video...but I specialise in contemporary dance not hip-hop or jazz....
Hang in there. Im keeping my fingers crossed for u xxx

Hi all ! Congrats to those who are definitely in. I was in the Blur/Madness group but have had the 'reserve' letter (Friday 20th). Am really disappointed as had been pleased with how the audition went, and was buzzing all the way home, but wondering how many they wanted for that particular section. Hoping I may still get in somewhere !

Thanks to everyone contributing to this. Any reserve people that later get an offer - please let us know to keep our spirits up.

Adelie27 - interested to read your post. I had an identical experience to you. I too was in the Blur/Madness group and thought it had gone well, but got the reserve letter on Friday. No idea what or how many they were looking for for that section! Hopefully, we'll both get in somewhere eventually.

I was in the Blur/Madness group but haven't heard anything yet! I suppose the 10minute vigil of my inbox starts again in the morning. Surely it can't be much longer-though I've really given up hope.

I think we will all have heard by the end of next week, hopefully the beginning of the week but then I've been saying that for the last few weeks.:s-smilie: Good luck to everyone still left!
