Hi there

Im Scott, and Im from Scotland. Live in a little place called Dunfermline, just north of Edinburgh.

I Applied to Opitio about 2 weeks ago and got my initial acceptance letter on Friday saying they will be in touch in due course to sit an aptitude test!

Kinda nervous about the test after reading this whole thread from start to finish. im not worried about the maths and problems solving tests, Im worried about the processes ones :frown: it sounds very similar to a test i took with Exxon Mobil last year and i just couldnt get my head round it at all! so im looking to get lotsa practice in and hopefully pass it! I applied last year and was instantly rejected.

I think a year at college doing mechanical engineering must have helped this year!

Anyway thanks to everyone thats posted in this thread with their experiences and advice, very helpful and hopefully we'll be successful this year!
Got my date for the assessments through the post today, its on the 12th of march in Portlethen. Incredibly nervous already and its 2 weeks away! haha. Anyone else got theirs that day? I have a feeling I'll be the oldest there at 24

Anyone else got their test this Monday in Portlethen? Only got my letter yesterday as well. What a stress!!
I have my test this Friday, I seem to have forgotten most things :frown: what are U guys revising with apart from shl? I have one day to prepare!

Thought I'd chime in on this debate. I've got my aptitude test in Aberdeen on Monday. The only problem is that I can't remember which order I put my preferences. Pretty sure it was Process first.

And to settle others on the 'clientel' you may expect. I'm a 24 year old guy with a degree in Civil Engineering. What a waste of 4 years that was. So now I'm going down the apprentice route. So there could be anyone at this.

u get to see ur application form again during the interview, when they're quizzing u.

and why are u applying?! u're making my chances seem slimmer now :frown:

I'm an apprentice 'Project Controls Specialist', about to enter my 3rd year but I'm willing to start all over again with Opito because this isn't what I want to be doing. Im 20 so I feel I'm still at an age where I can "start over again".
Aaaaaah! My test is tomorrow morning! OMG! OMG! OMG! I'm going to be sick :frown: I'm freaking out majorly :s-smilie: anyone else coming to portlethen tomorrow?

Good luck! Let's us know how you get on. Should be a breeze for you since you passed it last year.
so who has all got the test on monday up at Aberdeen?
and anyone know what they are about and where to find practise tests?
ugh it was surprisingly awful, 2minutes before the end of the process paper, I discovered that I had shaded a question twice so I shaded the answers one up and i panicked and never finished the math paper :frown:

Don't worry about not finishing the paper as long as you had a good attempt at the questions you did do you'll be fine. Also the process paper does trip up a few people you either get it or don't. Don't stress about it.
What course did you apply to do do you remember?

I'm sure you've done fine, I'm pretty sure most people don't finish the papers. What was the time limit on each paper? Also what were the maths papers like?
I hope I get it :s-smilie: I can't remember what I applied for, I never can  better luck with urs

the time limit for most of it was like 18minutes or 10minutes for 36 or 20 questions, really rushy. The math paper was very very easy, basic maths though, i just messed up with nerves. God help me, I'll be ok.
Cheers, I'm so nervous about the test just because I want the apprenticeship so bad! My first choice was instrument. In the mechanical test is there any shop arithmetic like finding out areas and amount of waste materials etc? Also what did you use to revise for these tests?

u'll be fine, everything is basic, google psychometric success and shl; shl is a lot harder but it helps ur mental state (kind of) i won't tell u exactly what was in it cos that'll give u advantage over me :P Are u still with OPITO or have been moved to ECITB?
I'm still with OPITO. I've been looking at the psychometric success site and their example questions. Would you say the tests are closer to the psychometric success tests or the shl ones? I just don't want to waste my time looking at ones if they aren't anything like the ones I will be doing  just before I buy the psychometric success papers to practice haha

Yeah. I'm in Aberdeen on Monday. I gave them a ring today just to ask whether I'd need a scientific calculator as I wasn't sure if it'd involve exponentials and logarithms. But it doesn't. Anyway, I'm extremely confident. See you all there with bells on.
And Damilola, you're obviously very enthusiastic and keen to get a position. If they don't see that quality in you then they're missing out. Most companies would kill for someone with that attitude.

thanks man  let's hope they realise that

And good luck for monday
How long is it until you find out your results from the tests? Also thank you for being so helpful, has put me more at ease with what to expect
