Well done! I'm waiting on (molecular) biology still. Can I ask what your predicted grades were and what your offer is? And when did you apply? I'm getting so impatient now! and well done again

Thank you! And I saw you got your offer! Well done! That's fantastic  I have to get a B in higher chemistry (predicted A - but I don't know if predictions work the same way in Scotland as in England), which should be okayish kind of hopefully. What were your conditions, if you don't mind me asking? And are you defo firming St Andrews?

I celebrated by buying myself a new pair of jeans  now back to work to get my conditions... Bleurgh.

Yep, me.

I don't really want to go there, so I'm not super bothered, but I'd like to get firming my other choice so I can get properly excited!

Yeah got rejected today by St Andrews. Don't think I would have taken the offer there either. Good luck to you if you're still waiting!

Congratulations to those with offers

Thanks, I'm sure they will reply sometime soon then  I sent an email to the email address I found on the Physics & Astronomy contact page which you kindly directed me to
Who knows, they might send a decision next week :h:

Well, if you sent it to Dr Bruce Sinclair then you stand a good chance of being given an update soon. He's usually reliable with replying to emails.
Fingers crossed!! :crossedf:
People with offers, have you all applied for accomodation yet?? So excited to start!

I have  for St Salvator's, McIntosh, New and University Hall. I wonder what are the chances of actually being placed in the hall of my preference? And does anybody know whether it's possible to change to a catered option later on if I already applied for self-catered?

Thanks  I was over the moon to get an offer! Ah yes, forgot you were Scottish :P my conditions are AAB, which are my predicteds and what I think I could get! And yes, I firmed it the minute I got home (I got the offer when I was at school). How about you?
Haha, good plan! I bought a new dress, always the best way to celebrate!

Sorry to jump in, but how do you state your preference of hall? When I downloaded the form from their website, it only would let me state the type of accomadation I wanted, not the actual hall.

You'll be fine now you have your foot in the door! When I was T the open day they said you can do 3 subjects in your first 2 years and take whatever subject(s) you want into the 2rd and 4th year as long as you've done the neccecary modules

Thank you, that's very reassuring!

Hi, I have an offer for English at St Andrews  . I was also confused as to how the flexible courses in your prelim semesters worked. From what I've read, and don't hold me to this, if you're studying English you can opt to study Medeival or Modern History (i'm not sure whether both) as part of your extra courses in the first two years before you start to specialise in the third and fourth years. I imagine it works vice verse for Modern History students, in which you're able to choose English as a complimentary subject then even study it as part of dual honours. Hope this helps!

Out of interest, have you decided what kind of halls you're planning on staying in? I am relatively clueless regarding the accommodation protocol

Thanks, hopefully I'll be able to do that then  It seems like they're generally prety flexible about it all, I was just a bit worried that they'd bar me from taking English or something like that as I haven't been chosen to start on the joint course aha.

I'd like standard self catered accommodation, it seems like the best value and I prefer cooking for myself anyway  I've heard it's quite oversubscribed though sadly!

Some of the first year modules has pre requisites - some are pretty obvious like French you have to have done A level or higher before - others are obviously popular and set grades eg some of OR require AAA @ A level or equivalent. You need to check the English modules you are interested in and make sure you are eligible.

Edit: just checked English and there aren't any with Pre req year 1 http://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/english/undergraduates/modules/

Thanks! It is reaaaally annoying to be rejected after nearly half a year of waiting :cry2:
Not sure where I'll be going to, it's either Warwick or Trinity College Dublin (or Exeter but...)

Sorry to hear you got rejected but TCD is a really great university and Dublin is a fantastic city. I'm sure you'll have a great time wherever you end up!

Erm, I still haven't actually had any contact from St Andrews themselves about my offer (got the UCAS track update email) and so have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing about accommodation... Is this normal?!

You don't have to wait on st Andrews, you can always withdraw so you can firm your favourites.

Yeah, I could. But I've waiting so long that I kind of want to know.
Boo. I still haven't heard anything. It's been weeks and weeks and every Monday I hope that it will be the week

Maybe this week will be the week...
