New undergraduate & postgraduate students will be sent an invite to apply for University accommodation once their place at the University is confirmed. Students will not be able to apply until they have received their invite.

YOU WILL BE ABLE TO APPLY FOR ACCOMMODATION FOR 2012/2013 FROM APRIL ONWARDS

Hey,

Sorry to impose on your conversation.

It sounds like we are all in the same boat. Year at Carmel and Off-site accomidation. (catered was my first option)

I was all set until I looked at all the travel issues.

So here is what I found. ( I am hoping someone points out an error in this!)

Breakfast - 7:30 (catered accommodation)

699 First Bus! - 8:05 for arrival at 8:25

http://www.arrivabus.co.uk/serviceInformation.aspx?id=2911&r=UK

10 Bus - 8:28 for arrival at estimate of 9:13 (45 min journey)

http://www.arrivabus.co.uk/serviceInformation.aspx?id=3680&r=UK

start of college day 9:20am

ps - Based on the assumption that the 10 bus stop is really close to the 699 if not the same stop. I think it is about a 5 min walk, which means the next bus is 12 mins later, making us LATE.

My thought as this being the perfect journey time. So i pretty much doubt it will always be this good!

I feel like it does not leave enough room for error.

Waking up late, more traffic than normal, ques for breakfast?

Previous students have said on a bad day it can take up to 90mins!

so now im really not sure about what accommodation I would want to go into. I do not like the look of the on campus accommodation :frown:

ye i know i see where your coming from...

i dont like the look of the on campus accom. think im going to just go to greenbank/carnatic still and just work out the best solution when it comes to it.

from what youve described it sounds like a perfect journey but no room for error as you said. if your late your late- dont make an error in the first place!!!

the other solution is accom in st helens but thats going to be hard to organise/meet people to stay there with.........

Well after my long post I was still looking around,.

I decided I wanted the freedom to be able to get the earlier bus to college, if needs be.

So I have applied for a room at North Western Halls. Its dirt cheap and right next to the bus stop. so I get my travel and central location.

Will be going for prospet point via the uni, then choose between the two.

However I WILL be moving to Greenbank/carnatic in our 2nd year, seen as all our classmates will then be freshers. Plus we are guaranteed accommodation for that year too. (according to the accommodation lady)

Any of you attending on the 18th ??

A 30-40 min bus journey, think it's the 10 or the 10a

heyy,

Yeah it is just the one bus. nice easy journey.

The 18th is the Open day ?! .... did they send your an email ? .... it had 4 attachments I think. ( offer letter again, bout the course, days itinerary and the course modules)

As off the halls the woman who I spoke to did say we were guaranteed for 2nd year / what would be the first year.... I might double check.

I just came across this thread and i am wondering if anyone could give me any advise for applying for year zero to then going on to doing medicine.
I am starting to look at my options and the year 0 at carmel seems like my best option so any advise would be greatly appreciated

thank you

The foundation year that I'm doing I had to apply for on UCAS but that's to go onto degrees such as biology, zoology, geography, computer science etc.

Uni of Liverpool do a different foundation year that you'd have to do if you want to do things like medicine, dentistry, veterinary science, nursing etc and to apply for that you have to fill in an application form and send it off to a woman at the uni.. it's all on this page on their website: http://www.liv.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/courses/foundation-to-health-studies-year-0/course-overview/

I visited Carmel College on an open day a few weeks ago and it's a really nice college and all the staff seem really nice and helpful  x
Have you all applied for accommodation yet?

I sent mine last week my choices are
1. Opal Court
2. Vine Court
3. Greenbank D&R

I emailed the woman at accommodation and she said people with unconditional offers should hear back at the end of May, so not too long to wait

I went:

1) Carny Dale - S/Catered
2) D&R - S/Catered Ensuite
3) D&R - S/Catered

I didn't even have a look at Dale, it was a bit of a wild card in the end. Did you see what it's like? Is it true they only have baths?

When do we hear? It'd be nice to find out and start budgeting!

Hey Max, hope you're well and all. Sorry for my late replies, comes with working dirtily long hours.

No idea, I heard a rumour end of June? I wish they'd tell me so I could start budgeting / making plans. Do you know when freshers starts?

Yeah snap, I haven't had a bath in my house since I was 5. Dale may have been a mistake hahah.
