True haha. It's probably just instinct because I know a few people who have been in Belmont. I might not even end up getting my first or second choice and be out at west park :s-smilie:

I'm studying medicine. Which other unis did you apply to?

I'm German and got an offer from my favourite uni, ANU in Canberra, Australia. But the fees ate just horrendous :frown: So I set my heart on Royal Holloway, got rejected and got into my third choice, Dundee. But I really liked it on the open day and almost forgot that there have been other unis I wanted to attend

Sweet! ANU sounds fantastic, could you have chosen a uni further away!?
Yeh Dundee is nice, I got a couple of other offers and it was really difficult to decide where to go, but I like Dundee and would be more than happy to send the next 5 years of my life there, so.. best of luck with getting your halls then, maybe. Cya in September!

Ahh it's nice to know there'll be another German speaker! (Actually, I hope there'll be quite a few!) My mum is from Austria so I speak fluently  Are you a school leaver? x

No, had a gap year (worked as a teacher for the Red Cross in Ghana). So are you Scottish or English? I think the university's website states that there are around 150 (!) Germans at the university. Add some Swiss and people from Austria and you have at least 200 German speakers

So have most people left the 'peace and quiet box unticked'? I'm studying dentistry so I want to be able to study but I don't want to be placed with boring people that don't like socialising! And what about genders? Have most people picked mixed? I've heard alot that girls put it bevause if its all girls it can get bitchy but what if it's all guys? Would it get all macho? Or would the macho guys put mixed anyway? So unsure what to put! Anyone added anything to the preference notes? x

Several people here have thought about ticking the 'peace and quiet" box but also stated that they don't want to be with boring people, ergo they consider themselves not boring but still think about the option, ergo there won't only be boring people in peaceful and quiet flats

I think I'll choose a mixed flat as I get along with girls quite well, usually even better than with guys

Oooh that sounds interesting! My mum goes to Ghana or Cameroon every year to teach beekeeping  It must have been an incredible experience for you! I'm from Orkney in Scotland  And that's a lot! I guess I keep forgetting how huge the university is! I think it's 13000 undergraduates! I'm really looking forward to meeting lots of people from foreign countries, we don't have many people from abroad up in Orkney :P x

When we apply for accommodation, how many do we put down? Is it 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice?

I think Belmont Flats, Heathfield and West Park Flats are the best!!!

I left the 'peace and quiet' unticked because I want flatmates who would let me have friends over in the evenings? But it makes sense that you would have to accept that your flatmates will have people over too even when you are trying to study and you can't complain.

But then, dentistry is quite a bit more work than most other courses, so if you ticked the box, I guess you could always go and visit friends when you wanted to socialise?

I definitely picked mixed! I would not get on with a flat full of girls, but then I get on with guys better than girls anyway xD.
And yes, if they're macho guys, then they will want a flat with girls to flirt with! Haha!

For my preference notes I wrote that I would like a room on or near the bottom floor, that I don't mind sharing with smokers, that I would like a room with space for my sewing machine and dress maker's mannequin...

I left it untucked, are reason as most really. But I'm in a similar position, studying medicine so obviously need to get my head down - but without being antisocial
Also went mixed, had no preferences really.

You get to put down 4 choices. I went for the same as you with west park villas as my 4th

They will email you about it I'm sure (what happened to me). It may be in your myDundee email account which you got details for earlier in the year.

If you log into evision Dundee then in your message tray is where the application process begins, although you may not have it yet because you haven't received the email.

The login in is like: jsmith and your own password

Has anyone gotten the email about being able to apply for scholarships now? I don't want to start the application because if you do something wrong then you have to email admissions and get your details re-entered!

There's quite a few, have a look for yourself:

Although product design is in DJCAD, I think it's joint with the school of Science and Engineering, so I don't know if I'd be applicable for any of their scholarships... Hmmm... What do you think?

I don't think I am either looking at your link. I'm school of medicine, and on that it's says there are no scholarships currently available, plus the only one they do offer (Dow Memorial) is usually for those with financial hardships - I don't think I qualify for that :s-smilie:

Ahh well..
