Theatre Arts

I've been given an unconditional for Theatre Arts(Directing). Could anyone please tell me a bit about this course. Is it good?

If you like doing a little of everything then you'll enjoy it. However, the brackets are very misleading. You will be acting in pieces whether you like it or not, it is only in third year that you can focus solely on directing.

The tutors are great but the standard of the university itself is poor. Online submissions aren't possible (although they may be by the time you arrive), and the Hendon campus does not have a specialised building for theatre students. The tutors themselves are very supportive and will go out of their way to help you in any way they can.

You are given the opportunity to do a lot of things: acting, lighting, sound, set design, stand up and directing. The course is a lot more practical than many other universities which is definitely the positive about the university, although the organisation is poor (I'm still waiting for an essay I handed in in December!)

Also be aware that the groups are very mixed ability, and perhaps not of the standard you would expect at university. This is because Middlesex accepts a lot of people through clearing, although this may be different this year due to the fee change.

Hope this helps!

Thank you so much for answering. I'm currently in the process of transferring from Falmouth to go in to 2nd year. How many hours a week/day are you in? How many people are there in your class?
Which level are you at now?

Thank you so much for all your help.-)
